anybody moving down south this year?

Probably not, because the people who are the most annoyingly vocal about how much they hate it here will never leave.

If I could figure a way to not live pay check to pay check(not that I’m doing that bad), I would stay here, because I think it takes money to have a fun/great life style to enjoy everything that there is to offer here… like snow mobiling. If I had all the cars I want and left over money, then I would probably have a snowmobile for a winter toy, and do probably other fun things that require additional money.

Not that I’m leaving(have no money for that/or that much interests), but I would love to be able to travel the world(a little/vacations), but I can’t spend that type of money on a vacation, because I have other priorities like (cars). I no longer want a lamborghini, but a viper, I think that is more affordable.

If in the future I had my own buisness and did well and made decent money, then I would probably stay and be happy.

You can get a Viper in the 30s now :tspry:

This thread should be split into people that have kids and people that don’t, it’s much harder to move when you have a young family.

It’s so much easier to live where you grew up when you have grandparents and family to baby sit.

you disagree with me on that, but I bet you’ll agree with me that living on the West coast>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> East coast

I put a bid in on a house located in a sub division in North Spokane,WA. This area has the #1 rated school district on the east side of the state, and the 29th best in the state (including all the richy ones in Seattle) My buddy lives in the neighborhood, he paid $265,000 for his new build home, and pays $2,300/yr in property taxes… compare that to my parents, who live Boston, NY with a house assessed at about $30k less, and they pay $7,600 in property taxes.

Oh yeah, WA state doesn’t have a state income tax, either… But surely they must get $ somehow, right?

In my county, we pay 8.3% in sales tax.

Our gas prices, on average are about $.30 cheaper than WNY. Right now, Costco,Fred Myers are about $1.79/gal.

Do we suffer? Sure, they don’t dump extreme amounts of salt in the winter, so sometimes are roads are icy.

Oh, and, our bottled liquor is taxed pretty high, because we can now buy it in grocery stores (but this tax is due to fall off at the end of 2015)

Just goes to show, that, you don’t have to get raped in the ass just because you choose to live in a certain state.

I have LOTS of friends that are transplants that have kids and no problems. Many didn’t move here with kids, but had kids once they’d been living here for some time. Definitely easier with grandparents around, but babysitters aren’t that expensive and afternoon school programs aren’t either.

So you live on the West Coast with 0 benefits of the west coast I get it.

zero benefits of the West coast… not sure what you mean?

If you’re an outdoors person… Within 1 hour of my house, I have 6 ski areas with 6,000+ feet of elevation.

Hunting/Fishing/Camping your fancy? 30 minutes from a 1.1 million acre national forest… and countless amounts of state parks

Shooting more your forte? Dozens of state designated shooting ranges, free to use within 20 minutes of my house.

Are you a snowmobiler? Ha, don’t even get me started on the riding out here…

i realize you live on the west side of the U.S. but when people say they love the west coast it’s really just Californa for the moderate weather, culture, tech jobs, beach, etc

ah okay. yeah, because Seattle isn’t a tech city…

culture? Yeah, love the Valley girl culture. Shit, during the summer, where I live, it’s much warmer than any part of California. (minus the imperial valley…but not sure who’d want to live there)

without a doubt.

I’m just pointing out if you asked people about west coast life Seattle will not come to mind…

I realize Microsoft, Amazon and other companies are in seattle

iono Seattle pretty dope (<intentionally poor punctuation)

Nothing wrong with Seattle its a great city

I don’t mind winter, I like the change of seasons.

I like this area but I hate the state. I do see myself relocating for the simple fact that I don’t see myself being able to retire living in NY without a second form of income. I wouldn’t mind relocating to a different office and staying with my company, but then my commute will become longer as I need to be in a somewhat rural area to be happy.

My parents are about ready to relocate. My parents have been job hunting in NH, mother is going there this week for an interview. No income or sales tax and comparable property taxes to where they are now here.

I like this weather. :gotme:

The only place I could really see moving with a constant temp or weather would be Hawaii, maybe the Keys, but I think it would drive me nuts.

I just spent a few days in San Antonio to see my brother for his BMT graduation, and the weather was fine, but variable. Lows in the 40’s and up into the mid 70’s while we were there. He said they had some snow the week or so before, then laughed about what they call snow around there.

Yeah, I am about an hour and a half north of San Antonio.

We did have some snow flurries this morning.

Temperatures vary quite a bit here, it was quite warm last week, but this morning it was in the 30’s.

They say the winter averages out to be about 60 degrees.
