It looks like NFG revised their supply number down slightly for September 2010. It now stands at $0.661559/Ccf versus ECA’s rate of $0.556921/Ccf. ECA’s supply savings for September is now 15.8%.
Just switched. I will post up again when/if I see a change or not.
Mine did the same. They said “we adjust every year around this time. you will note that with your balanced billing that you will still remaining around a $0 balance. It’s normal…”
i called both ECNY and NFG… and they both blamed each other and were pissing me off. I ended up calling NFG back again and they just explained that it was normal.
Mine went up $30 as well, without warning. I asked them “Exactly how does that help someone budget, raising it $30 in a month, without notice?” They, shockingly, didn’t have an answer… so I just hung up pissed off.
I have no idea why people use budget billing, it causes more problems than anything else.
If you want to budget, then why not save some money in the bank for winter when the gas bill will rise?
Because you start it in the winter and get interest-free loans from the gas company?
:word:
When you are on a budget bill, do you pay a locked rate for gas, or is it variable rate?
You actual monthly bill is based on a variable rate. ECA does not offer fixed prices to residential customers.
I always assumed the budget plans were for poor people. I still feel that only the people living paycheck to paycheck would have anything to gain from it anyway. Just keep money in the bank, and pay your bills when they come. It’s really not that hard.
Below are the October 2010 savings figures for ECA:

Nice. Just in time for me to start using some natural gas again since I’ve had to fire up the furnace a few times.
I have an unwritten rule that I don’t need heat before Halloween. Hopefully I can hold out. Weather isn’t helping.
I’d rather be comfortable than save a few bucks. Not like the furnace has to run that much when it’s 50 outside.
I keep telling the wife no, we started up the fireplaces last night though (natural gas) if this sub 50 degree weather continues I guess I will turn it on.
I said screw it, I’ve been running the furnace all week. Just had a new furnace installed that uses less than half the natural gas than the old 30 year old one.

Just an FYI guys, ECA is now taking enrollments for residential gas in NYSEG and RG&E territories. ECA’s monthly rates for these programs are also listed on their website.
RG&E Residential Savings. This territory has shown savings between 10-20% for all of 2010.
NYSEG has multiple territories, but most around here will be in the Lockport area.
Here is a link to all the residential gas programs/savings:
