Anyone buy a tool chest from Harbor freight?

Ive been looking at tool boxes for a couple weeks now so that I can finally clean up some of the shit in my garage. Ive been looking at Craftsman mostly but I got a harbor freight catalog in the mail yesterday. In it, they advertised this tool chest for $399:

Has anyone had experience with these chests? I like that its cheap, has ball bearing sliders, and has 11 drawers. Its just going to be used for weekend projects so I know I dont need a Snap-On or Mac tool roller. What do you all think of this one?

It’s, “Industrial Quality”, how can you go wrong?

Go take a look at one at the local store and see how it’s made. I’m guessing you’ll find lots of weak welds and terrible quality control, but you never know.

Looks alright. I’d go to the store and have a look, make sure the sliders don’t feel all flimsy and whatnot. It’s not an absurdly low price either, which I’d be wary of. Looks good nuff.

ive got a snapon chest like that ill sell u for 200, its like 5 years old

That box is decent for the price, I think it only comes in that dull red color but it would get the job done for weekend projects.

It’ll do for an at home garage. Just don’t lock it too much. I had a similar one and the lock mechanism inside the box broke on me and I had to pry one of the drawers open to get to it so i could get all the other drawers open. VERY poorly made boxes but as long as you’re not in and out of it 150 times a day like a mechanic it should be ok.

I have been looking at getting the same box. The paint is like a wrinkle coat. seems tough to me. The drawers have ball bearings and feels good empty. Not sure how it will act with tools in it. Maybe you can take take a ton of tools from around the store and put them in there and see how it slides.

compared to $430 for a similar craftsman, which is actually alot smaller than the kobalt above
