Apparently it doesn’t matter. I’m still there and I work 20-30 hrs a week.
I’m salary. I would love 20-30 hr weeks.
depends on ur dept and how busy they are…i heard they laid off some guys that have been there over 10 years
glad i work where i do…company is still hiring and im workin atleast couple hours overtime every week…we dont seem to be slowing down at all…goodluck to those less fortunate
They made some mistakes for sure though…hopefully people will get their jobs back.
we went through layoffs yesterday… fucking blows, but imo there was not enough done.
hoping shit picks up sometime soon
rumor has it the foreman gets like a 30-40K xmas bonus… wtf
All of the companies need to weigh out how much bang for the buck they are getting… some of these people that have been there 10+ years probably make double what the new guys make.
It’s common sense from a business standpoint to let go the guy making more money to do the same job.
kissing ass doesnt ass save you at all, its a #'s game pretty much, Jerry Cunningham got laid off hes been there for a long as time. the only reason why i figure he got laid off because he didnt put in the time because of his his hip replacement surgery
Steady at my place of employment. I’ve been the only CAD guy here for the last 7 years, every job goes threw me first before the shop gets it. As long as our customers stay afloat I will have a job or unless the boss hires someone for cheaper. Obviously anything can happen and in reality any day it can end.
it’s slowed down drastically since october. Luckily we’ve been burning through our backlog of work but we haven’t had any substantially new work come in in awhile.
If the housing business doesn’t begin to rebound by probably february, i’d say i’ll be in trouble.
Some of our largest clients are loving this though, buying up land at insanely cheap prices. So as long as we can “weather out the storm”, when the rebound kicks in we’re going to have more work than we’ll know what to do with.
My company just sent out letters saying everyone is working on Xmass this year because we lose to much $ when we close down 1 day a year. We are so busy there making everyone work on Xmass! Thats a good thing and bad. Since allot of people wanted off.
We have been slow here, but only because nothing is wrong. Plenty of sites to design and/or host, but nothing more than usual. This time of year people have already made their changes for the holidays so were good to go til new years probably
Very true. If I had to build a resume and I was single, I would mention the fact that I won’t need family coverage at least for a while. A potential employer can’t really ask but the person can mention it. I am actually looking into more automation, robots, etc because of all the taxes(FICA, unemployment, disability, comp, etc) and costs of people. Sad but true as the cost of automation comes down and the cost of humans goes up. NY doesn’t help the worker in this regard that’s for sure.:smash2:
Can anyone confirm this or is this just more intraweb bullshit?
:wstupid:
Fry don’t you work at Praxair? Didn’t they just have a lay-off? Maybe I am thinking of someone else.
You guys just fired a bunch of people I thought?
It must be slow all around in tire sales.I have had two different competitors call me this morning trying to get pricing and info on tires. One let me know what he was doing and told me if I am ever looking for a job to call him.
I’m half and half.
I just got a raise and became eligible to work time-and-a-half, even though I am salaried, and a bonus plus all the work I can handle…
…but I gotta move to Cleveland to do it. :meh: So I guess I’ll look for an OHSpeed. :gotme:
I am sorry to break it to you but we are actually only half ways through the storm. We are in the eye of the mortgage reset hurricane. There is a lot more pain on the way. It is estimated that up to 90% of those mortgages are going to default.
