My sources tell me it was 125 employees. I quit Derrick about 4-5months ago after almost 5yrs. They then hired like 40-50 new hires to get as much stuff out before the year, and when they caught up they got rid of them plus more.
For all you hourly workers in the plant at derrick, you will see the light eventually. They dont care what happens to you, lol. You are nothing but puppets, (words from bill gross’s mouth).
For those that got laid off., consider yourself lucky. take your learned skills and trades and try to find yourself a better job that allows some sorta advancement.
Yeah. I never heard the actual number, but it was somewhere from 100 to 200 in Tonawanda, 1600 worldwide. Nobody here in engineering though, as we’re a bit understaffed as it is. 91MR2 is busy as ever (not that I mean to speak for you) in part because his department did see some cuts so now he’s picking up the slack?
I just heard from one of my industry insiders:snky: that their big Japan customer cut their order in half and pushed the delivery out.
They had been going great guns from everything I had heard in the past.
False, I saw the Layoff list today, I’m guessing it was less then 100.
I would probably concur that they don’t care what happens to you. But, while working at Derrick they take good care of you. All the Derrick’s are real nice, they wave to you and talk to you, rather than snub you. Everyone is easy to get along with and for the most part there aren’t any problems.
I’m hoping to move up into the IT department there but if not, I’ll probably be leaving soon as Derrick currently isn’t my job field.
