Anyone ever take a train?

It really is that bad. 6 or so hours for a train or one hour for $118 on a plain. Way better option

A better option than SPELLING? :spank:

I took the train to NYC once from Rochester and it sucked.

Amtrak sucks going to NYC or to chicago. But when i went to New Mexico, the train from Chicago to New Mexico was sweet. Double decker train, observation deck, snack bar, resturant in one car. i would def take the train after chicago, but not before or to NYC.

ive taken one to nyc. it takes maybe an hour longer than driving there. the seats are huge. and it was really comfortable. for sure worth it

^was it amtrak? i’m really dreading this train ride, i can fly jetblue for $40 more but i’m having a hard time coming to terms with the price of this two day trip to see the sabres play in NYC.

I took one with some buddies to Daytona Beach for spring break one year. Was an awesome trip. We drank them out of Molson’s by the time we hit NJ, then moved on to Jack, met some broads, had a great time.

jetblue.com $49 each way into JFK, and you can take the subway anywhere you want right from the airport for next to nothing. It’s a 1-hour flight roughly. I’d take that over a train any day.

I took a train to florida when i was about 14. It took 36 hours and it was the worst shit ever.

I came to post about your girlfriend taking trains but I hope since this is already on page two that was covered a long time ago.

Trains rule though. I have taken them from Rochester - Cleveland, RI - NYC, Providence - Boston. Chicago - Burbs. So easy, so niiiiice.

Basically:

:word:

so many mixed results here, maybe i’ll just do it.

it’s kinda not worth it because i’m leaving sat morning at like 4am, and leaving nyc sun at 2pm. i’ll be in the city for less than a day.

jetblue is 49 sat and 99 sun so after taxes it’s like 175 total

used to take the train to nyc.
then the one time they put the wrong fuel in and the train stalled out and we were stranded for about 5 hours with no power or heat.

now i drive.

I took a train from Rochester to NYC once and it took FOREVER. Plus if you get stuck or there’s a prob it’s even longer.

Take a cheapo flight to JFK or LaGuardia. Much cheaper and faster IMO.

took the train to nyc for a 2 day sightseeing trip, NEVER again… 20 hours of time awake in NYC and 20 hours of time awake and uncomfortable on the train.

i’d fly, and i hate flying.

Took the train to NYC a few times and it wasn’t bad at all.

Took it to and from Syracuse a couple times recently and no problems there either. I only remember paying about ~$80 to go to NYC on Amtrak though, $130 is kinda crazy

At those prices I’d fly, even though I like trains. It makes more sense to me on longer / overnight trips than shorter day trips. Fuck, to NYC I’d probably just drive and do a park-and-ride outside the city.

why wouldnt you just drive?
