You know, the valspar “tractor and implement” paint? I’m trying to figure out if, how much, and with what should I thin it. It just seems a bit thick to spray as is.
I wish I could give you specifics on mixture. But I worked as a diesel tech for almost 10yrs, all of our trucks were painted in house with this stuff. Hell anything in and around the shop was as well. It’s very durable and a great paint for the cost. But sorry for offering no help on the mix ratio. lol
how is the shine on it ?
We used the basic colors around the shop. White, Black, IH Red, John Deer Green, Safety Yellow. All our truck bodies were white and frames black, they shined as good as any paint job I have seen.
yeah used it on racecars without issues. i forget the exact thin proceedure.
I painted my brothers talon with this. i think its 1:1 but if you paint you should be able to tell when its been reduced enough. I believe the can may even say what to reduce it with and to what ratio
Usually under ingredients the first item is your thinner.
it says add 2oz to a quart of paint, but that still seems thick to me, but this is my first painting experience.
2 to a quart is right, don’t exceed 3. We always say up to 12oz per gal.
thanks. Any other advise on spraying it?
Close your eyes, pull the trigger and start waving that shit around randomly.
A couple light coats is better than one heavy coat, follow the directions, keep your gun evenly spaced and perpendicular from the surface, if it’s humid allow for extra time between coats, wear a real respirator not some dust mask, surface prep surface prep surface prep.
I did that once. Not allowed in Maryland anymore.
lol
it’s really forgiving stuff to learn on.
i used that single stage in black once, had alot of problems with the reducer for it though. i like using omni bc/cc though, its a cheaper brand but still works pretty nice.
I painted my bed yesterday. Would have turned out a lot better if the bugs weren’t so interested in it, and had it not rained while it was still drying. It looks ok from about 20 feet away. I’m gonna see if I can get that down to about 10 feet with some wet sanding and buffing.
