Anyone fly with (carry on) license plates before?

Figured I’d check here as I know a bunch of you ahve bought cars from out of state. Does the TSA give you a hard time carrying on license plates?

As in a “could be used to make a weapon” kinda deal?

I flew with a carry on including:

Headunit and a bunch of wiring
V1
GPS
Laptop
License plate
And maybe 1-2 shirts.

No problem at all. Didn’t even get inspected.

Yea. or a “you should have checked that” kinda deal

word, good deal

my fiances brother just flew back to NC with plates in is carry on…No issues

Just don’t sharpen the edge of the plate knife sharp and you’ll be fine.

Just did some research on google, seems like it’s not an issue.

Thats what I’m reading as well.

My carry on one time had a socket set kit, swivel ratcheting crescent wrenches, and an ohm-reader along with some clothes. They scanned it and asked me to open it. They looked at me like I was retarded, but let me on. W/E…

Not like a plate is going to cause more damage then a pen in the eye would.

I was just on the TSA website, reading what is prohibited… Some of it makes me picard.

If someone gets stabbed on a plane with a license plate, I’ll laugh my ass off.

As long as the licence plate isn’t hiding three pounds of shrooms’ I think you’ll be fine.

Thats what the fake bottom in my suitcase is for.

I flew with a lighter in my pocket from Buffalo to Chicago to Houston and all the way back.

WTF?!?! THEY LET ME KEEP MY LIGHTER?!

There isnt enough metal in a lighter to set off the detector. I flew with one to vegas and back no problems before. Just make sure you have NOTHING else in your pockets/on you that might set it off.

For the unsure:

First answer is carry on second is check on…

I asked the officers at 2 airports while showing them the lighter, to see if I could keep it. They both said yes.

i think they will let you take 1 lighter, but not more than one. i know it doesn’t make sense, that’s just what i was told by a tsa employee. i’ll get a definitive answer about the license plates for you tomorrow, although it sounds like you’ll be fine.

can you bring a parachute as a carry on?
