i have new wheel studs and took the old ones out, now ive heard from a couple guys that i could just freeze the new studs ice cold, then just hammer them into the press fittings. i dont really think i want to do it that way. i would rather freeze the studs than press them into the holes, instead of the hammering.
any input or if u have a press that would be able to press in the new studs.
Washers and a impact work good, but use ALOT of grease, or you will make a mess out of the threads, grease the washers and the threads and they will pull right in.
Not a good idea to suggest using grease or anti-seize on the stud threads. You really don’t want a lubricant that will promote the lugs loosening. If you need lube which you shouldn’t just use something light like spray silicone or WD40
You can always wipe greese off after when your done, but to pull a stud in without is pretty silly. I’ve been putting grease and anti-seeze on lug nuts for 15 years (4 of that was as a full time mechanic) and i’ve NEVER had lugs loosen, you can run around without grease, but good luck when your broken on the side of the road.
