Anyone know anything about Power Commanders?

I put a full yosh exhaust on my bike. I bought and installed a pc3 for it. Only problem is, i’m not sure if i’m uploading the map right or not. Or if it’s even the right one. If anyone has experiance in this and is willing to help, please let me know. Thanks.

is it the usb one or other? i personally would never install one unless i can tune it off a lap top. IMHO they arent worth it neither are full systems. for the price of all that happy jazz you could of stepped up to a next size bike but then most ppl cant even handle the power level they have stock rathre along moded and to aonly gain 8 to 12hp isnt worth all thta money. ride harder and you wont need more power unless your going full blown racing

but to help you out, go to their website or check out www.sportbike.net

It is the usb. It has the buttons on it to adjust the fuel level also. Had it hooked up to my laptop, but to be honest didn’t know where the numbers should be reading. It’s an 03 R1 so no real need to step up size wise. I did the full exhaust more for sound instead of hp. Thank you for your reply though.

should of just stuck with a slip ons. but use that website or your best bet is dyno time

I have two awsome maps for my '02 R1 - should work for an '03 since they’re essential the same bike. pm me your email address and i’ll forward them to you.

FYI, do your suspension 1st then upgrade the engine/fuel/exhaust.

The guy that runs the dyno at Gatto’s is great, he charged Mike something really ridiculously cheap to do his bike (it’s by the hour though, not a flat rate). The guy said that he sees harley’s all day and he likes a change w/ the sport bikes.

Those maps won’t work, they’re setup for a dented pipe!

And don’t forget those brakes either. If yure gonna go fast, you better be able to stop fast.

When are people gonna learn that sportbikes aren’t about max HP ?

come on man yes they are, dont you remember silver spoon and his 2k in mods and 1hp gian

Will never forget it - I laughed about it for days.

BTW camaro22, if you bought a full system for only sound then I’m just gonna step up and call you retarded right now. I could go on a rant right here but I’ll exercise a little self control and just say that you wasted a shit load (anywhre from $500 - $1400) of money for absolutely no reason when all you really had to do was get a slip-on ($250-600) or even better gut the stock can a bit (free - $50 maybe) and get all the noise you want. Now you’ve went and made it worse by buying a PC3 ($200-$350) and not really having a clue what to do with it. Now, if Jeff’s maps don’t pull through for ya guess what yure looking at now - Dyno time, and another $200 or more.

Add that cash up and you could have gone a different route and gotten some serious performance bling that would have improved performance of the bike leaps and bounds over what a full exhaust system is gonna get you even after its been tuned properly. Reworked or aftermarket suspension, upgraded brakes/lines and other things will make much more of a difference than engine mods will.

I’m not busting your balls as much as I am trying to educate. Alot of young/new riders make many of the same painful mistakes - maybe one of them will read this before they go into debt to “sound” cool.

i  squids

the money spent is never worth it and i love how every squid says whats all done to your bike, reply slip on well is that it? well i have this and that and a power commander i so that should net me around 30hp

If anyone wants to go against Quik’s advice, here’s a website that has them on sale for a pretty good price: http://www.cyclemartusa.com/productdetail.htm?productId=2482225

its not just me, read above and youll see

sorry 2k for mods and to see 10hp if that

when you could get 40 hp for 2500 by stepping up in size or just learning how to ride FTW

I’m not really trying to mod my bike to say this and that for HP. It’s alrady an R1 and I think it’s plenty fast. Again, I did it for sound. I had just the yosh slip on at first. I bought the full exhaust off ebay for $200 which I thought was a great price. Yes I had to spend another $200 for the powercommander, but I was thinking also that when I go to sell the bike, that these would be good things to help it sell at a good price.

you dont buy a bike on the resale of one. depending on who buys the bike the suspension will be worth more, posers love the lil tibits, now get the maps off jeff and try one out, also i sure hope youre using an aftermarket air filter setup now since youre letting out more air then your taking in

Exactly, I only bought the PC to help get my tubby ass around beaver run a bit quicker. I highly doubt it helped with HP numbers. The PC did smooth out the power curve; however, I also installed velocity stacks to add more torque in the mid range, new air filter since the OEM had 17k on it, removed the AIS. I’m frugal or as others would say, a cheap ass and I only paid 150 for the PC, 50 for the filter, and 50 for the stacks. all used of course.

By far the best money that I spent on Ghetto Fab was for the suspension, Penske Shock with GP Suspension fork internals. BLING BLING.

Oh another thing, Camero, by adding a full system exhaust you’re going to loose the low end torque that the EXUP provides. You’ll notice the loss when you’re riding two up at low speeds. Full system exhausts on the R1’s are only good for racing when you spend majority of your time at the top of the tach.

OK, good - yure not as dumb as you initially came off in this thread

Yeah, 200 was a good price for a full yosh. But as Jeff said, removing the EXUP valve you very well could take a hit on the low end torque. Those devices were pioneered on my bike and the old fizzer 1ks (late 80s early 90s) and are only reccomended to remove if you are a track rider because as Jeff said, your are mostly in the higher rev range with that type of riding. Even with tuning and dyno time, you may never resolve any performance problems that may arise. It tends to make the power curve look like a big titted woman laying on her front (yep, still pretty flat). Many people who remove the valve end up putting it back on out of frustration. But hey, if you like the “sound” and are willing to deal with the issues then more power to ya. Does the full really sound that much different over a slip on?

I would still reccomend a dyno run, especially if you aren’t familiar with a PC. You can do some serious damage to your engine if you really screw up the mixture - running too lean can cause detonation in the cylinder and that will make things go boom in a bad way.

Oh yeah - Jeff is one cheap ass mo’fo. He’s worse than me and he don’t have any rugrats either.

Here’s sumtin I just came across that may help.

Thanks guys. I do appreciate it. Thank you for your patience as well. I may just put my stock headers back on and keep the yosh slip on then. Less problems, worries, and money it seems like.
