anyone know dodge neons???

i have a question i need answered, my check engine light came on and its giving me a code for ignition coil a secondary circuit fault. now i dont have a ignition coil in my car it runs from the crank sensor and cam sensor to the asd relay and then to the coil pak.

would a intermitent faulty crank sensor make the car shut off from no reason and then 15min, later the cars runs fine again, ??

the cam sensor is brand new, and if its not getting the right signal from the crank sensor the asd will kick on and shut the motor off right?

You don’t have a distributor…you have a coil. Its the square thing on the valve cover that has plug wires coming off of it. If you need a coil I have both the round pin and square pin style.

umm… i know i dont have a distributor that wasnt my question … where are you located on transit … i have never seen you guys there

i dont think my coil pak is bad,… i think i might have a faulty crank sensor that is causeing the car to shut down intermittenly , but i dont know for sure

the guy at advance tried to tell me my ignition module was bad, however he is dumb becuase neons do not have ignition modules they use signals from the crank and cam sensor to determin the spark to the coil .

and on that note … are the coil paks just factory or are they MSD…also what woudl i be looking at price wise on a 2.4 swap into my car … i have the motor and im gonna install it but if i can have someone do it for me at the right price i will … can you let me know please

Chances are it IS the coil pack. Try grabbing a cheap one from the junkyard or swapping a known-working one on.

As for swapping the 2.4, it isn’t that hard, but a shop would charge at least a few hundred, maybe up to a grand to do it. I’d help you out if you could provide a heated garage and tools. The NA swap is cake.

Also, if you want to look it up on Neons.org you can check resistance/continuity across the coils and see if they’re ok. I never had to mess with that, but it’s possible.

your car doesnt “run from the crank sensor”. The crank sensor is for the ecu which allows you to have spark.

relay and then to the coil pak

coil pack = ignition coil in a neon.

But yes, an intermittant fault in the crank sensor will make the car shut off. Sounds like you have a bad crank sensor to me.
