“There is a power street class, and a turo 6 class. There are no min weights in the sportsman classes, but they can’t be cut up or lightened.
Powerstreet is for 1 power adder 4 cyls., and n/a 6 cyl cars.
Turbo 6 is for turbocharged 6 cylinder motors.”

I talked to NDRA tech and that is what he told me. Griz you should be under most cars in turbo 6 by about 1000lbs(example: supras, 3Kgt, R32 VW’s, etc)

pm’s or call there shop 724-925-2660

unlike, most of the other posts on this board. This is actually useful information.

yeah… at least there is info behind it.

so are they saying you aren’t allow to reduce weight in any way?

thats what im not sure of… I dont know if your just not allowed to alter the structural integrity of the car to make it lighter by cutting stuff up. Or if they mean doing anything i.e carbon hood, light wheels, light seats, remove airbag…etc.

I thought the R32 VW was NA

like this one?

http://www.pittspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12358

it is. 3.2 liter vr6.

sam,

any tire restrictions?
and what is “competitve” in the class. .

why is the Griz is turbo 6? Did i miss something? Something that starts with an RB?

well since you are FWD in power street which will be what I am runnin. you have to use a non- bias ply drag radial with a max. size of 235/60/15 I do believe. Jim Hucks did well in the class last year and was runnin mid to low 11’s with one power adder on BFG 225/50/15(tire most choose)

as for kolars question there is no minimum weight so you can strip it down a lot but must retain carpet, seats, air bags, etc and you can’t chop the car up. it has to retain the factory unibody.

kolar you can run turbo 4 if you get some slicks or will be in 10’s on the et streets(NDRA’s version of sportFWD but allowing RWD vehicles)

I will DL the rule book and post it on here.

it is but there are a few out there that are pretty serious turbo cars in this class. the HPA R32 comes to mind

you can do a hood, wheels, seats, ac, ps, etc but it has to look and act like a street car for the most part

ok guys the first class rules are goin to be the class that jason hunt etc ran in last year. the 2nd is the street tire class and 3rd is the 6 cylinder class

so, in turbo 4 i can run full blown slicks— 24.5x8x13

in power street, i can run m&h’s dot legal 205/60/13’s (roughly 23x8x13)

seeing hunt ran in turbo 4, u need easily low 10 high 9 car to play, w/ cut probably being high 10.

what about power street? whats the cutoff for the field usually? those m&h dot tires are basically slicks w/ a line through them and dot certification-- so those have to be the ticket for traction in that class.

i think it has to be an actual radial tire… When i raced at IDRC i was placed in the “street tire class” which was everyone with ET streets and M and H dot cheater street tire slicks. There was an easier “true street tire” class which was for radial tires… i.e. BFG g-force, Nitto NT555r, The new ET street radials.

24.5x8x13 will work in the turbo 4 class but are a bit short compared to what most run.

M&H are bias ply just like ET streets so no you can’t run them. BFG is really the only way to go in power street. usually low 13’s will let you make the event with the winner being from 11.0 to 12.0 most of the time. DOT means nothing it is all about how the tire is constructed and it must be a radial tire not bias ply

cut for turbo 4 is in the 11’s but there is really no point since the first round you will end up racing a mid 9 second car.
