audio wiring help

so i have 2 dual voice coil subs. each voice coil is 4ohm. i need to wire the system up so its running at 2 ohm. any ideas?

only thing that might work would be running the voice coils on each sub in parallel to each other and then running the subs in series to each other. but i think that might give me 4ohm. please help.

That’s impossible… your options are: 2 x 2 ohm, 1 x 1ohm, 2 x 8 ohm, 1 x 4ohm, and 1 x 16 ohm. Take your pick. What amp are you running (how many channels, what’s it stable to … )?

its a jbl gto301.1
204 watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms
and ≤ 1% THD + N (BR>
294 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms,
14.4V supply and ≤ 1% THD + N

what about running at 1ohm (all in parallel) and then putting a 1ohm resistor in line?

Your going to find a 400watt Resistor where?

^ ahahah

Oh yeah… you’ll also get a ton of heat, and half of the power.

You can always run series/parallel and just run them at 4 ohms. That is the best possible scenario for you. Otherwise buy an amp that is stable down to 1 ohm or buy 2 different subs.
