Auto dealer worker held in use of luxury car

I drove it off the truck, doing a burn out the entire time! Enjoy the car man.

the dealership i used to work for was very lax about the plates and vehicles. a lot kid i knew bought an older tahoe in jersey, he wanted me to go to check it out for him to make sure it was alright.

well he ‘borrowed’ a new a a4 for the trip. it sure was nice driving that all the way there and back.

pretty sure no one was ever the wiser. i even put it on my ezpass. lol

This is making me rethink buying a used car from a dealer… or a new one for that matter…lol

funny stories

Yea if that was the case i would have not taken delivery on the car. Got some ass hole fired at northtown toyota for driving my tacoma like that. Drove my truck to me from the back of the lot and break torqed it for 50 feet. Lets say i dont think they even let that fuck work the rest of the day. I think he got fired on the spot.
Hell when the new gto’s came out they let me and a friend drive it with no sales person. jesus we beat the shit out of it.

Wonder if it was a “new M3” or the used black e46 they have over there? not that it matters, just curious…

lol nice its not rare to find a left over night dealer plates on cars in the lot

i dont know HOW many times plates / keys were left in cars at Schmitts. and abusing cars was almost our job there. i cant even count how many audi’s i fired down genesee @ 100mph, how many demo cars were wrecked, how many rental cars were treated like red headed step children. how many new cars got bumpers destroyed by the plow truck …

although i think my s10 holds the top honor for on-the-lot burnouts, which i actualy did pulling it INTO the shop, lol

It was a new M3. He actually didn’t get caught in the M3, he was caught in an X3. He had the M3 last weekend, had the X3 this weekend. Someone suspected he had the M3 and he admitted to taking it as well.

I work at Towne, in case you didn’t figure it out

if the kid was that dumb enough to use his own plates, im sure he was dumb enough to drive his own car to the dealer and leave it there without his plates on it for the management to put the two together.

I also work at Towne lol i heard all about this yesterday… Part i dont understand is why would you put plates on a car with a window sticker(msrp) on it? Let alone no reg and inspection  DUMBASS

He actually took plates from a loaner car, not his own car. If anything take a dealer plate because then there’s no registration or inspection issues… I don’t believe the window sticker was on the window, they sometimes remove them and put them on the dashboard.

the car still legally needs to be inspected to be operated w/ dealer plates, and dealer plates are for official business

dealer plates cant be used for personal business and cant be used for “other” dealer activities (like taking scrap to the junkyard) … wreck the vehical when using the plates for something they arent issued for and you CAN wind up in hot water. the ins company can tell you to go to hell and the state can pull all your plates

edit: and even if the sticker WAS still on the window, why does it matter? ive seen plenty of dealer plated vehicals w/ the dealer sticker still up (both new and used cars)

No he had regular plates, not a dealer plate on… Normal 2 plates + sticker window=asking for trouble:nerd:

meh, ive seen that too, its not liek its a red flag that the car is stolen

True … but cop can pull you over for obstruction of view, then run your plates and bam

That’s why if I bought a car like that new I’d demand that it not be predelivered or anything. As it came off the truck is how I’d want it. I know too many characters that worked at dealers and did stupid shit with brand new not broken in vehicles.

A vehicle with dealer plates does NOT have to be inspected. Only vehicles REGISTERED in this state are required to be inspected. Being it is on a dealer plate the vehicle is not registered therefore not subject to inspection. The remainder of your statement is true. Dealer plates cannot be used on a vehicle that is acting as a service vehicle. We pull plates for this. Its very entertaining to see a dealer get their panties in a bunch when we come for dealer plates

Michigan M plates are the ticket. We get test vehicles at work that aren’t even legal for sale in the US and we drive them all over depending on the testing that needs to be done.

tell amherst, depew, cheektowaga, lancaster and buffalo cops that. i never gave a fuck about it when i was driving dealer plated cars at schmitts, but i still got pulled over and informed that i needed an inspection sticker.

only reason i never got a ticket was because i always told the cops that if i get a ticket im just gonna hand it to my boss when i get back to the shop.

depew wanted to impound John Schmitts green ram diesel truck cause i was using it for a scrap run (overloaded none the less) w/o inspection and w/ dealer plates… and he probably would have if he had seen me murdering road cones on broadway w/ it … one lane isnt enough when theres 2500 pounds of scrap in the bed, lol

It’s in V&T Law. We get people that call us on this and i’ve printed out the section and had them take it to court. It always gets dismissed. Most police agency’s know. It usually happens when they have new hires
