auto -> manual tranny swap - what's this box?

Hi guys, like i said, i’m doing a auto -> manual tranny swap. I installed my clutch pedal yesterday and i found this orange box bolted up where my new pedal goes.

I don’t remember seeing this in my manual parts car when i stripped everything. Is it still necessary after i do my swap or I can toss it away?

I got a '89 hatchback.

Thanks!

More than likely your auto tranny computer (TCU). But not sure on the S13. You dont need it.

“CONTROL ASSY-SHIFT LOCK”

It’s probably the thing that wont let you put it in gear unless ur foot is on the brake.

ah ok… i thought there was another sensor on the brake pedal for this… cause in my auto one, there’s 2 sensors on it and in my manual there was only the brake lights sensor on the pedal. But anyway, that might be it too. When the car will be ready to go, i’ll see if it works or not. I’ll keep it handy just in case.

Anybody else knows for sure what this is, don’t hesitate!

two sensors…guess lights and cruise control…

keep it, shift interlock allows keys out of ignition? when in park after park sensor overridden?

can’t remember but I cooked one of those and the car didn’t start after 90S13 auto -> 97 Sr 5spd
