I have a hood that is completely stripped of all the paint. It has some rust and I would like to prevent it from rusting anymore. What would be the best type of primer to coat it with? If I ever end up using it it wouldn’t be until next year or later. Keep in mind if/when it is time to use it I can completely strip it again very easily.
acid etch primer will both convert light current rust but also prevent future rust.
Por-15 someone told me was the best
I’m not sure if POR-15 has a primer paint, all i know is POR-15 is super strong paint and won’t be easy to take off if need be.
I don’t want to go the por-15 route because that stuff is very hard to get off. I just want to put something on it for the winter basically. It will need some work in the spring.
acid etch primer is the way to go. then whatever you have spare over it and your straight
por15 sucks on bare metal anyway. it really doesnt adhere well to anything but rust.
