I’m looking to buy a set of HP+ pads, stainless steel brake lines and some better brake fluid.
Parts going on a C5, where is the best place to place an order? What fluid is the best to run? Thanks!

Try Innovative for fluid & lines
Hawks are generally dirt cheap @ Summit
Lines, (assuming for your app) can prolly be found @ summit as well, but you’re best bet tis to check on a C5 specific board.
oh… IDK is innovative will ship to Texas.
FS: SS brake lines for a C5
the hawks are nice … no brake fade even at extreme high speed braking.
they have /run a web biz, so yes, he will
a lot of people feel that HP+ is too much for autocross (i.e. they will not ever get to temp for autocross since the course is too short). More people go with HPS’s, I believe.
also make sure you bed them in properly (they come with instructions)
:word: it takes a little bit of time but if they do seat nice they are awesome. i used them for more of an aggressive street driving than Auto-X so they worked much better in my application.
I could also pick them up when I’m in town.
If you have some you want to off pm me a price. How old are they etc. I’ll be home from the 19th until the 28th this month.
I think I’ll be able to heat them up enough!
Thanks guys
:word:
Had the +s on the civ and they were too much. Didn’t like to grab hard when cold. They liked a few good stops to ghet up to temp before they gain their bite, which you won’t get a chance to do on the auto-x course.
HPS FTW!
i really don’t think you will, at autocross… you’re really not buying the right pad if you get HP+'s. They are more suited for road course.
Fluid is overkill for an autocross too. If you’re going to be hitting real tracks go ahead and do it but if just autocrossing/street use I’d stick with stock fluid so you don’t need to change it so often.
ATE super blue is great stuff for hard brake use but it attracts moisture more. I’ve never seen a car running stock fluid have brake fluid issues at an autocross.
Not to mention the noise of DDing them…
Interesting thoughts. The car is only driven in the following conditions:
Hard as hell on the street fri/sat/sun.
Very high speed highway runs.
This summer should net me a 3-5 track days.
Possible cross county rallies with my friends between Houston and Buffalo. (Seriously though ~2500 hard mile trips) 3-5 of these.
My DD is my M3 not the C5!!
lol… so why did you say AutoCross guys? it is a completely different application.
SS lines + HPS + ATE Super Blue is a great combo, it’s what I use on the street. I switch to Carbotech’s for trackdays though.
Well in that case, assuming its not a DD and you have money to burn go with the HP+'s…
IMHO HPS for everything but the 3-5 track days. Swap on the HP+ (or a true track pad) for those.
It’s very hard without ending up dead or in jail to overheat a set of HPS just playing around on the street. You just don’t get the quickly repeated ABS threshold stops that really beat up brakes like you do on a track.
AweSome!!!
HP+ sounds like a good option. Fine for street driving and they will hold up alright on track, you are giving up some on both ends though.
I can’t say anything bad about the hps because I’ve been on one pair for 85K+ miles right now. Nice bite but they do heat up and fade pretty quick.
I completely agree with the first half. Pretty much any brake setup that’s stock or better will be fine for autocross. I spent almost the whole summer last year testing hawk brake pads and different fluids under pretty extreme track conditions. The HPS pads are weak, especially for a track day. HP+ will be a good track/heavy street pad if you can handle the noise, and don’t plan on running r-compound tires.
Do not count on super blue at the track, especially with a compromise pad. I strongly recommend spending the extra money on Motul RBF 600.
