Aviation Fuel

Can I run aviation fuel [100+ octane] in my 1st generation sbc without any harmful effect?

leaded or unleaded

100 LL…low lead

why would someone that runs this ask:love:

If you can get it, sure. We used to run airplane fuel in a 55 chevy nomad with a 427 and trips. I was like 4-5 years old and still remember the smell

I’ve read the SG (specific gravity) of AVgas isn’t friendly to cars.

Boosted motors (TurboBuick guys) referred to it as the headgasket killer. Unmanageable EGT’s when running hard.

working at rock airport I had the chance to use avgas in many engines.

THEY RUN very HOT.
IF it wasent made for leaded gas and you care about the motor your going to use it in , dont do it.

Here at my local airport, They sell two types. One that is made for high-altitude and one for low-altitude. Obviously you’d want the low-altitude stuff. Ask before you buy it and remember to bring fuel jugs because they won’t let you put it straight into the car.

i use it alot (100 LL), i dont use it straight, i cut it 50/50 with 93/94 pump gas, and it works really well… DO NOT USE IT WITH EFI CARS IT WILL kill thew O2s and destroy the cats…
