avoided big time accident

around 12:45am monday morning going east bound on the 401, probably going about 120-125km/hr traffic was pretty clear around the yonge area but its crappy cause of the construction. So i’m ahead of a pack of cars cause i find that it gets kinda cramped in the two lanes available, passed by the bayview exit when i’m coming up close to a car and quick. I quickly change lanes and by the time i change lanes i passed by 1994-1995 accord sedan i’m thinking to myself “man i got caught up to him quick and almost clipped him” checked my speedometer to see how fast i was going still going 120-125, then it hit me that his car was dead with no hazards on… so i look in the my rear view mirror and i see the car behind me (i think it was a ford astrovan) rear ends the accord big time, not sure if there was a pile up. Called 911 when i saw that but i’ll be watching the news tomorrow. But i’m pretty thankful to be alive for being ahead of the pack. Just hope everyones okay…

craziness i tell yah… i don’t even know why he didn’t turn on his hazards if he’s stuck in the middle lane. I think if he had turned them on, the accident could’ve been avoided.

prob killed his battery and had no power, none the less they should do what they do in america and in all construction zones they have a emergency pull over area to avoid stupid shit like that.
glad to know you made it

any way to avoid that happening to you? like batt dying and whatnot unexpectedly.

if your alternator kicks the bucket and you run off the battery. its only so long before that battery will die. im sure the hazzards would work for maybe 15 min.

Glad that you and your car are alraight. Hopefully, the passengers/owner of the accord is okay too.

As it goes for solutions, for the accord and cars in similar situations, would it have been possibly avoided with a warning such as an open trunk with a White triangle with a red border (using the same patin that traffic signs use) - mounted on the trunk in a manner to be visible to on-coming traffic? I think they do that in Europe - but correct me if I am wrong.

towtruck shuld have and would have helped… if he called for tow service they wuld come immediate faster then a cop…not caa

I’ve had a car crap out on the highway, and I was able to safely signal and cut over two lanes into the shoulder before stopping

short of your transmission seizing there should be no reason you can’t get out of the way safely

if only we had proper driver training like pilots do
