Saturn+Accident

well,
On friday night, I was given a ride in my buddy’s 2004 saturn 2 door. (Ion I think it’s called). Anyway, we raced a prelude the same day, and he beat it. He felt cocky, so at 12pm on the way home, going north on Winston Churchill right before Thomas, he spots a S13(91+) and decides to make a quick pass. After trying to explain to him that it’s raining, and his car is too shit to beat a 240, he decides to race it anyway. there’s 5 of us in the car, it’s his moms car, and I’m sitting in the middle in the rear, which is actually a cup holder, no seat belts. He shifts from 4th to 5th, then to 3rd(beginer) and pulls the saturn to 120kms an hour, passes the guy in the 240. The guy made this face that had the expression simular to “wtf?”. My buddy is like, “yes, smoked you”, looks in front of him, see’s a green cheverolet venture, or whatever those cheap minivans are that look like a pontiac montana, slams his brakes and skids. Panics, doesn’t tap the brakes, and just keeps going straight. I see the situation, and judging from where I was sitting, and the speed traveled, I grab the seats as hard as possible. The van gets smacked at about 110ish, and flies away, I, felt a pop in my shoulders, and witnessed everybody in the car smack their heads against the seats, and dashboard. Air bags didn’t go either, but everyone is alive. Everyone gets out, driver starts crying because he just raped his moms brand new car, and coincidentally, it’s her birthday. I decided not to pull the “I told you so” b/s and instead tell one of the guys to jet, cuz when the cops come and notice more passengers than seats belts, his licence will be suspended. After 3 mintues, I see the same gold 240 come back, and passes. I noticed it’s a guy that lives off a side street on doug leavens. Not sure if he’s on this forum, but he honks and laughs as we all stand in the cold rain, watching the tow truck pull up and cops asking for an explaination.

The morals of the story:

Don’t buy a GM car, they suck (airbags and seatbelts didn’t go off)
Don’t race 240’s in the rain, they don’t race in rain.

Yeah that was pretty stupid of your friend.

You’re lucky too!
You always hear about these kind of things except the guy without the belt (i.e. you) is usually thrown from the car and killed.

I’d never ride in a car with someone that reckless at the wheel.

Are YOU alright? Did the cops come? What happened after the accident?

I know who the guy is that lives off of Doug Levens is… we’ll talk later tonight.

Yea, I’m perfectly ok, I just felt a snap in my shoulders, but it was only a bit sore. My g/f smashed her face into the seat infront of her, cuz for some reaosn there was a plastic cover, and my buddy on my left side smached his head against the seat, then on the roof. His neck still hurts. Yea, the cops came, we never got questioned, only the driver. His older brothers came a few minutes later, and gave us a ride home. The guy who sat in the front pass. Is ok ass well, but hes still shocked from what happened. He’s like “no more drifting or tailgating for me”.

If you guys saw what I saw yesterday in the Metro newspaper… holy f*ck!
Car crashed into a lightpost on Morningside just north of Sheppard. The car in the picture I saw was unidentifiable… the only recognizable thing was the two subs in the trunk. The rest of the car was entirely mangled. Two occupants were burned alive inside and coroners are searching dental records to try and find who the two occupants were.

Moral: slow the f*ck down according to conditions.

woah that was really stupid of ur friend…

glad to hear that you guys are all okay

Moral:

Don’t speed if you can’t drive.
Don’t street race.
Wear seat belts.
If you’re going to street race, don’t have 5 people in the car.
Don’t race your parent’s stock car.
Odds are that the people he raced didn’t even know that he was racing them.

There is a lot more I could say but I won’t.

Damn dude, your friend is a moron, too bad you guys were in the car with him. Next time while hes driving and wants to do something like that again, punch him in the face and knock him out, grab the steering wheel and stop. Its dumb fucks like this that piss everyone off, what if he were to hit that van and kill the woman driving the car, how would that be? Anytime you drive fast you take a risk, but expecially in the rain. Dont let fools drive you around in their cars. My moms best friends, uncle bought his daughter a viper, she was ripping around in it, and she hit a light pole, this was about 5 years ago. She is now a vegetable, and stuck in a wheelchair. Feel sorry for her and especially horrible for her dad.

actually, the person in the van was a brown dude, and he was perfectly ok too.

Okay well I have one more thing to add to my list:

PAY ATTENTION WHEN DRIVING.

Anyways, you need to go into more detail or something, because I know people who have been in much less severe accidents who came out of it with whiplash and stuff at much lower speeds so, either I’m not reading it right, or your friend didn’t hit the van at 110km/h.

The van was going around 70 or 80. That’s the only reason, and probably why the bags didn’t go off.

ahahahahah who the hell races in the rain + full car = idiot

AHHHAHAHAHAHAH awsome

Next to paying attention & seatbelts obviously, leaving a large space cushion IMO is the MOST important thing.

thats the most retarded thing ive ever read.

wtf was your friend thinking…

i would have stuck around just to get his licence suspended. why would he endanger so many people just to make him self look cool…

ugh… i hate people like that with a passion.

GT

Glad to hear that everybody is o.k man.

There was an accident down the street where a kid took his mom’s camry and went racing with his bodies at night, he lost control and smashed into a pole, a fire broke in the car and the bystanders were able to get his bodies out of the car but he was stuck and burned to death(16 years old).

Use common sense, all it takes is one second and your life changes forever. [-X

yea, I don’t understand the point of any of it. I’m obviously not proud of my friend. I would avoid that entire situation by driving normally. If anybody feels like tapping the pedal to the medal, best place is the track. I hate it when people use the"but I’m not like him" excuse or the"but I know where cops hide, and I know this road perfectly" excuses.

wow, classic RICER story.

People still do ricer fly bys? Those are unheard of in Kingston these days…if you do, frag you`re up for a HUGE verbal flamming… frag i made this dood go red in the face in front of his GF when he did that to me in his civ…

lol…

honestly, he gets what he deserves…

and the air bags didn`t go off b/c of your collision speed…

if the dood infron of you is going 130 and you hit him at 140 (im not saying you did, just an example) then the collision speed it 10km/h…

and i believe airbags dont go off untill a collison speed of about 45/50-km/h... So no, theyre not crap, probably saved your buddies nose.

On the plus side no one was hurt. Sometimes the cure for reckless driving is having an accident. If nothing else your friend has learned a costly lesson and won’t pull the same stunt again.

Iv’e written off a car before and let me tell you, It’s not somthing you want to do twice.

What’s a ricer fly by?

They come in many forms…typically a slow car zooms by a faster car with a more responsible driver. The slow guy (ricer) thinks he’s won kinda thing. Or sometimes they go WAY past the limit in a short race to catch up to and pass the faster car, and again think they are faster. That kinda thing…
