Bacon's AE86 gets some love.

Ever since I bought this car, and fixed it up it’s proven to be a joy to drive. However it’s always been lacking in one thing, power. So given all issues with the car besides it’s obvious lack of “pretty” have been mostly sorted, it’s time to fix that.

Currently as it stands it has a pavement shredding amount of power somewhere south of 60WHP, maybe even 50! So while the factory SOHC 1.6 (4A-C ref*) is without doubt a screamer, no amount of viagara can help Bob Dole’s flaccid dick, it’s out.

Enter:

There are much better options for power, however it really just needs a bit more pep. Without requiring upgrades to the brakes/suspension, massive modifications to the car, or sacrificing drivability.

Goals:
-Refresh the bottom, and top-end
-Simple bolt-ons
-Carb conversion
-Make it past the magic 100WHP mark.
-…
-Profit

Ummm I was expecting a white tofu delivery car.

Guess not. :frowning:

anyways I like where this is going.

Awesome dude!

But carb conversion? Why?

this thread is lacking the pics needed to invision the build.

In for pics

in for pics also.

In for pics as well!

In for nudes!

In for dicks or um pics.

i always had wanted one of these…get them pics up!

Awesome, looking forward to one of these builds. I am looking into getting one.

Pictures, of what an engine on a stand? Patience Daniel son.

Started the engine tear-down last night pretty much all done. It’s been quite apparent it’s been dormant for over a decade, with rubber seals harder superman. And oil that would make Bill Cobsy proud in bits. However no metal, is good enough.

Valve covers were all sorts of stuck on here, using a bit of improper technique they finally broke free.

Shortly after cams were free, no fuss at all. Only issue really is some baked on oil that needs cleaned. And likely will need re-shimmed as it’s slightly out of tolerance.

Head off, given the age and mileage on the motor I’m suprised there wasn’t more carbon build-up.

End-caps off crank looks spotless, bearings could easily be reused as they are in tolerance. However I rather make sure there are no clogged oil/water passages.

The hard to find part of the day “Cylinder Ridge Reamer”
Autozone - “Uhhh, it’s in this isle.” points at a metal file
O’reilly - “Oh wow, no one’s rented one of those in ages. Don’t believe… oh siqqqq is that an 86?” chatter ensues
Advance Auto - “Honestly, no idea what that is. Manager might” cricket, cricket “Hablas espanol, ridge racer?”
O’reilly (again) - “I checked after you left, and found one”

I don’t get JDM, I lack the VTEC leetsauce.

And lastly before a low battery situation stopped me cold on the picture front. Engine now completely apart, only thing on the block are the provisions for an oil-cooler, with filter attached still. Pistons, and cylinder walls are in great shape. Rings were carbon free, though will likely be replaced as the engine is open. Beyond that next step is clean-up, and waiting on parts.

Parts Acquired:
Oil-Pan (New)

That Redbull is a real attention whore.

Having driven this car, I can vouch for both the fun and the lack of power.

Glad to see you’re giving it some sweet loving.

yea for bacon!!!

Muffins!

Still waiting on piston rings and some other parts to come in, and trying to get A/C parts as well so I can keep it nice and frosty come summer.

nice job! My brother has those hello kitty seat covers…in his KIA.

dev you hook on the bull?
shit’ll kill ya

I find it delightful that the RB is in every photo so far.

“OMG LOOK AT ME!”
