vw16vcabby's 1986 vw 16v turbo cabriolet

25 months, probably 4,000 hours. crash course in paint and body and fiberglass (will redo at a later date the dash), probably 3 or 4 soldering guns/irons and a million pieces of wire connectors/heat shrink/solder. , countless tranny/engine jobs at cut rate labor prices.

i need to thank the following shops who helped me out along the way.
Jim and Brady @ Racecraft Fabrication, Jay @ Hybridynamics, Brian @ J.J.‘s Automotive, Rege and Nathan @ Maroneys’ Foreign Auto, Joe and Jr. at all Foreign Salvage, Joe @ A1 machine shop, Bern @ Burlington( N.J.) VW and the infamous Paul C. aka Killa.

Even though I did the paint/body/mechainical/electircal work myself, I couldn’t have done it without the help of my friends and my garage mates. So thank you goes out to my garage mates who put up w/ me doing body work in the garage, borrowing (and breaking) tools, blarring Slayer at 3 am while running various air or power tools and allways blocking the garage door w/ someones broke ass vw that i was fixing to make money for my own car. Thanks again Wags, Tussy, Wally, Mikey L. and Mike O., Sonny, Val, Old Man Phil, Habs, Armand, Mark M., Andrew S, Whitey and many more im forgetting right now.

Car still need the tires/windshield/ alt belt and turnbuckle
and some odds and ends, but it is picture worthy finally. hope to run it tomorrow on the stands provided i get a base map figured out.

pics are clear, car is dusty. not a show car yet.

Awesome. Cant wait to see it in person

Looks fucking awesome. Oddly enough I think I like what you did to the interior the most with the VDO gauges and headlight floor switch. Little details like that. :bigthumb:

Edit: When your looking for the “Not driving in straight line wheels” lemme know. Locally there are usually a good set 13’s somewhere that might work out for you.

sweet. anyone selling a pair of 2 tires, or set of 4 for a decent price? was about to grab a pair of 2 used 205/60’s w/ 75% tread left off ebay for cheap to run on the rear for now. when i bought the wheels, they were wearing stretched rubber in typical vw “euro” fashion. i like traction better than looks.

also, thanks for the remarks. there is a shit ton of other stuff i didnt even list. small stuff that u dont realize until after thinking about it…

Off the top of my head no. But the season starts in a month and i’m sure people have had tires sitting around for no good reason this winter. Also my buddy road races he’s probaly got a few 13’s hoosiers sitting around he’d let go for cheap. Again his season starts in a few months as well so same deal. If your ready sooner just PM me i’ll dig some or look here now and then http://www.racepa.com/index.php?act=SF&s=&f=8 every so often someone dumps tires.
