I am having bad engine break up over 4 grand

let me know what you think.

thanks

I think its funny that the element behind your coil, is also referred to as a coil.

I have nothing useful to say.

i dont know how but im sure u could pick up some used coils cheap off the bored and save yourself time…unless its easy and then i hope somebody else helps you

Looks like its cracked. A crack anywhere in the coil tube will cause arcing. Even a small hairline crack.

You need to buy a new coil plug assembly.

hahahaah you funny

bbm me more info about that dual caliper setup, i’m interested!

well nummmmer 1 is probably bad if it looks like that. whats the plug sayin’? if it is wet and all that swap that coil with like number 4 if the spark on 4 looks good, then rip…check 1 see what its saying and check 4(with the bad coil)…or just grab a good set they are cheapo.

I’ve borrowed some coils for .White240 to see if it makes a difference. Can only rev the car in neutral (Its on jackstands right now)
Seems to have cleared up with the coil changed, but tomorrow I"ll throw back in the bad one and make some direct comparisons.
My dad seems to think the casing is split wide open at that crack you can see. You can actually see the inner windings!!!
Damn, I really think that was my problem

Looks like you had the problem figured out from the start :thumbs up:. SR I imagine? On an RB coil issues are pita. Gotta pull off the intake manifold and check 6 of those slats. I have seen it done by a fellow son member. One-by-one he swapped a coil out with a good one and put the intake manifold back on To test it to see if he had firing issues above 4000 still (must be the magic number) till he found the failed one-which was the last coil to be checked. Fun times.

Stock SR coils are junk as soon as you try to make some decent power. I’ve had this issue on several of my setups and everytime, rather than try to make the stock ones work, I’ve swapped in a Splitfire Coilpack set. Never had an issue after that with ignition break-up

Yea Happy240sx, I will agree with you completely. We had hopes to get the car running decently though at lower boost level (10PSI) with the parts collected, thinking they were all good. Then tackling any isssues like this one as it comes up.

At the first 2 tracks days last fall we were still dealing with fuel tuning, cooling issues, and suspension setup, so the bad spark was hidden in the mess.

So now I still have to make the comparison run tonight, but I think a set of splitfires are definately in order as we planning to work our way up to 20+PSI this year.

I think Vlad has a set for sale ???

Vlad is keeping his motorparts together, I talked to him yesterday.
