Bad crash in Clarence

if i can remember correctly, i only ran through one stop sign by accident in past ten yrs, and i pretty sure it was one. county/strickler. everyone be cautious near that intersection.

So young. Tragic.

So the two that got ejected didn’t have seatbelts on?

Nope. Never. I pay attention to the road. Maybe you should too. I also don’t ride with people who don’t, probably why I drive my own car everywhere I go.

Yeah the girls in the back seat…

I remember Newman making a thread asking if people wore them in the back seat and an overwhelming majority of people said they dint. I used to be 50/50 but I pretty much always buckle up in the back because truthfully you really can only trust yourself, but I however, am a minority when it comes to that mind set. I really dont know anyone who buckles up in the back.

It actually makes sense that the two belted people in the front died when you realize that the two rear seat passengers weren’t belted. Watch any crash tests with unbelted rear seat passengers and you’ll see how them flying forward slams the front seat into the dash. That’s why I make people buckle up in the back seat when I drive.

^ good call JayS. Question though…do we know if it was a head on crash or if the sedan T-Boned the van?

News said they t-boned the van.

Same here.

This is just a horrible thing.

This. The un-belted people in the back become human missiles essentially.

X2

I always make people in my car esp if they are sitting behind me. Going 20 mph to a dead stop is enough force to throw them over the seats and break your neck.

The sick irony of this is the rear passenger seat belt study was done at UB, mere miles from the site of the deadly crash.

Haha, although im sure it was unintentional, I laughed at how dramatic your wording is here.

Those pics from that kids FB are not from this crash. I swear people cant read. “Posted January 15” right below the pic. And really guys, why would you want to post pics from a deadly accident, I find that a bit disrespectful. If it was a non-fatal accident, fine.

The kids they where interveiwing on the news said they where not suprised, the kid drove like an ass. She even said the told the girls not to go with him. Verry sad.

Lot more info on this in the Buffalo News today.

Less than 30 minutes before four Amherst teenagers perished in a two-vehicle crash in Clarence Sunday night, the twin sister of one of the victims pleaded with her not to go driving with Viktor Shapiro.

"I told her, "You really shouldn’t go with him. He goes too fast,’ " Jennifer Schnorr said of the cell phone conversation she had with Megan, her fraternal twin.

“Nothing’s going to happen,” 16-year-old Megan assured her sister of the plans to go out driving on Clarence’s back roads.

That’s pretty fucked up.

Actually the front passenger and one of the rear passengers were belted…

Shapiro’s body ended up under a parked pickup truck in the driveway, and Schnorr’s body slammed into a plastic gym set, breaking it in pieces, authorities said

wow thats crazy

I haven’t heard much in the news about the details of the driver but on talk radio yesterday they talked about how he lost his junior license then a couple months later somehow got his regular license AND he was supposed to be in court tonight for other violations. Oh yeah AND he did not pay fines that he was supposed to. How do you keep someone like that off the road? It sounds like this guy had no respect for anything really.

Agreed, the driver sounds like a real DB. The girls twins story is heartbreaking. I couldn’t imagine losing a sibling like that.

Yeah, you really have to question in the parents in a case like that, especially when the kid was ticketed for unlicensed operation, no registration and no insurance. When your kid is still living at home at least have a clue what’s going on and take away the car.
