Ok so i noticed sumthing wird with my timing after i had took off my timing cover and then reinstalled it. Ofcourse this means that the CAS came off. I reinstalled it and began to adjust timing. Weird thing is when i retard the CAS all the way it only goes down to about 22 degrees and thats the most retard i can get out of it?! isnt the stock setting 15 for auto’s and 20 for 5sp? My car is an auto to manual swap and im not sure if i still have the auto ecu or a 5spd.AFter couple attempts at getting the timing to 20 i have noticed right afte ri set it and go out for a spin it pretty much fully advances itself. And no the cas is not moving that s.o.b is on there good.
I’ve been told that on most DIS cars u have to tell the computer that ur goin to set the timing, u usualy do this by jumping 2 pins in the diagnostic port, one will be like IGN and the other would be either to ground or to 12v’s from another pin.
My question is does this apply to skylines aswell? If so how do u “tell” the computer your going to set timing
I found a site explaining how to set base timing on an mr. Not a skyline but it illustrates what im trying to explain about bridging connections in the diagnostic port.
