Doesn’t say which OS they were using. If they were using the shipping OS, 4.7.0.6x, then yes, it does suck. Quite a bit in fact. Upgrade the phone to 4.7.0.75 (which should have shipped on the phone IMHO) and you have a 100% better experience. I’m loving mine.
Just went to .75 last night and I agree…tons better. I’ve had it for 2 weeks now and I still love this. I’m honestly not sure why it’s getting shit from people.
Posting from mine right now. I’m diggin it thus far.
A guy I was sitting next to at the poker room tonight has one and he said its OK but he is less than impressed from all the hype it got.
After using it all weekend i have come to this conclusion. The phone is not a BB in the sense that it is a good device to manage emails and work related stuff and thats what makes a BB> iphone in the business world. The lack of keyboard makes it that way in my opionion. While i feel the keyboard is many times better than the iphones it is just impractical to hae a touch screen because of the lack of ridges between the keys. A bb storm with a slide out keyboard would be a fantastic phone if they could keep the phone at the same size. I am anxous to see more support for the storm in the BB apps in the future as well as the BB app store that they have been building up. I guess its a good attempt of BB to make a touch phone and it has a lot of potential but im sure rim will keep improving it.
Yea they make it seem like touch screen is the best thing nowadays! I would be happy with a slide out key board and keep the nice big screen. Maybe the phone would be able to use the CPU better without the touch.
Ahh, sorry I didn’t see this sooner.
Reconciliation of deleted items is very low on the totem pole in terms of what the BES/Exchange server talk to each other about, it usually take a while to do.
Other things I need to know :
- How many exchange servers do you have?
- If multiple users, are they all on the same exchange server?
- How many mailbox agents do you have?
- How fast is the box?
- All your service packs updated on Exch?
- What version of exchange?
1.) Single Exchange server
2.) Everyone is on the single Exchange server
3.) Mailbox agents? You mean licenses for BES? Or mailboxes on Exchange?
4.) The BES server is a brand new HP ProLiant DL360 G5. Not sure on specs off the top of my head, but it’s potent. Exchange is a DL380 G4.
5.) All service packs are up to date.
6.) Exchange 2003 SP2
Anyone having pretty shitty battery life with this? I text/AIM a lot through the day and do some intermittant web browsing and my battery gets CHEWED through.
^^ what OS are you using? .65 was worse on battery life than .75 is.
4.7.0.75
Welcome to the world of modern smartphones.
iPhone is the same way. The chips, screen, high speed data network and backlight on top of email syncing (PUSH mail is a killer) destroy it. You should probably get 8-10 hours before it needs to be charged again?
so is this phone a hige flop?
nah i like it a lot… with the current OS it is still pretty quick. the battery is PROBABLY going to be shitty. It is still good for a full day which is all that is required for a smartphone, you won’t get better than that. However once it degrades a bit I have a feeling it’s going to be insufficient.
I am still pissed that i can’t use BES/BPS without getting a corporate plan. I should just fork over the nut for it but I am paying verizon like… $350/$400 a month already.
werd, I would have gotten the storm if I could have done it with my workplace for 30/month.
did it exceed your expectations? Be honest
I definitely like the phone. 8-10hrs sounds about right for the battery with my usage. Just going to get a charger for work and one for home…no big deal I guess.
Also, anyone mess around with the touchscreen options? I feel like I could benefit from changing them, but I don’t really know what the effects will be.
I like it a lot, having said that it is really not very blackberryish if you are familiar with a typica blackberry device. Its a great phone and has a ton of potential when more apps are made with it in mind. Right now the applications store is very limited but come march that is supposed to change. As

did it exceed? no, but it met them… i had read just about every review out there so i knew exactly what i was getting
