BB Storm

QFT!!

What exactly does BES provide? Is it a proxy between non push email services and the phones?

im no IT guy, I’ll let someone else explain.

It pretty much allows for seamless integration between your exchange server and your blackberry and in our case everyone in the company. I attached a screenshot of ours cause i was just in it adding a new device.

IDK, I receive email alerts just like my wife does. :gotme:

you can also set a bunch of different rules for each BB, everything from what programs are allowed to run, to wiping the device if it is lost, to blocking voice calls, to requiring a password…all managed by the guy running the server.

end to end encryption…corporate email never touches public internet…

Is it easier deployment of devices instead of having to configure each one manually?

By BlackJackII and my iPhone both synced with exchange so they have my contacts, calander, and email on it. Just curious what the benefit of having a server between a push service like exchange and the endpoints.

eh, i still think the windows mobile integration is pretty much top notch (now, with exchange '07 and win-mo 6+)… just the overall OS stability and speed is not there.

I will be getting the storm the first day out, and likely will keep it, however if it is fucked up at all I will bring it back and stick with my Q9m.

BES adds additional ADMIN features for IT departments on top of what exchange natively supports. HOWEVER, exchange 2007 has come a bit further with server-side control of devices and IMO is getting up to compete with BES. It’s not quite there yet, but its close, and for all intents and purposes it does everything you really need.

Ah. Interesting.

also got my “Verizon Wireless VIP” invite to a private sale 17th-21st. I don’t think I will be able to buy one but hopefully they will at least have some there to fuck around with… or even better have a pre-order list

ARGH. I didn’t get the VIP mailing. I know for a fact that our corporate account qualifies for VIP status. I don’t want to wait till next Friday!! lol

Can I come with you? I um up on my contract and have been waiting for this! :ohnoes:

If my boss decides to start re-imbursing my cell phone usage. I am probably gonna return the centro and pick up the blackberry.

i guess its the perks i get for paying 200+ a month for my personal plan :picard:

200/month? eek

me an tracy pay less than 100 combined

work reimburses for part of it so it’s not terrible… still a fucking ton of money for a damn phone though.

i think its like 1500 mins, data plans, 2 phones, unlimited text/pix/flix etc… its absurd really if you think about it

yikes @ 200/mo. I so don’t miss having a cell phone bill.

i actually finally got it dropped down to like 185 after changing some crap, and after they released the “personal” data package.

Im super psyched! steak and storm night!
