Beat to death topic : TVs

Got a co worker looking for a flat panel of some sort

looking to spend no more than $2-3K

Should he go HD?

Or just get the enhanced?

Any particular models you circuit shitty bois recommend? What about you Breast buy guys?

He can order online.

How are those DELLs? If they are anything like their monitors, I would probably swing for one of those.

FWIW I have heard nothing but stellar reviews of the Dell’s. I’ve only seen two in person and for relatively short periods of time.

In comparing my experience with them, and my strolling through CC, BB, SA… I’d say “Duuude, You’re getting a Dell”.

Price, deals (online), and the fact that alot of them are sourced by LG (who is near the leading edge).

Oh, HD FTW.

I’m sure the big nerds will chime in with model numbers and pages of comparison stuff… but in the meantime, has He/You checked out AVSForum? Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge HT nerds.

i have a dell and its been the best tV i have ever had

2300 bucks now for the 40 with free ship

matter of fact, goto avsforum and there is a HUGE post about them

Hd on plasma cant be beat, my buddy has a 60 hitachi RPHD, it sucks balls compared to plasma

you just gotta make sure its calibrated, as all stores turn up the contrast and shit to make it look better, once mine was calibrated its perfect, with no chance of burn in, which isnt an issue now a days if u do the right steps to prevent it

Do you have the 4200?

yep, i originally ordered the 50, but my room is too small for it, so i got the 42

Hmm I’m reading that there are a decent amount of problems, but service as always is pretty top notch.

They send a tech out and he replaces everything.

^^ good to hear. i was considering buying a 32in lcd in ~6 months… i’ll def get an extended in-home-repair style warranty.

^ in 6 months alot of things will be completely different has stock is replenished / parts updated, new competitors, etc.

IMO The best thing that Dell is doing right now is they are starting the wave of price-cutting. Ideally forcing competitors to follow suit… $1500 tv’s here we come ::evillaugh::

word. :tspry:

mostly the older rev. 00 ones, mine is rev. 04, and have no issues

IMHO, the only ones that can beat Dell bang for the buck would be Samsung. With Dell’s warranty and cheap online pricing/specials, you can’t really go wrong.
