Route 8 from 87 to route 30.
My favorite road of all time.
I go to Indian Lake every weekend…THAT road ^^ will never get old. Once the passing zones are memorized, it surpasses epic status.
There will always be that ONE time where you just get fucked by one Mass.hole or some local D-bag who gets traffic backed up for a 1/4 mile, but it’s well worth the risk.
Anywhere up here by me on Settles Hill in Altamont. Encompasses all the Duanesburg roads as well.
I usually use them to test the press cars I review.
Could probably drive those roads blindfolded as I take them to work damn near every day. Most residents on those road don’t like me too much :ninja
Johnson Road in Glennville
Spires Falls Rd in Hudson falls
Tracey Rd off exit 87N exit 30(yes that’s still 518)
Musselbeck Rd in Pattersonville flat out if you think you have the balls…
Settleshill Rd off rt 20 between Dburg and Albany.
I’ll look for you when you’re up here…what do you drive?
I drive one of any number of vehicles we own, my sisters stuff, or any one of a host of customer vehicles here when required Lately I’ve been hooked on this little HHR SS my sis runs for the one lap. Just enough ooomf to get you in trouble. Thinking about getting one of my own just haven’t found the right, unmolested '09/'10 yet.
I’ll look for you. This week I’m in a Tornado Red VW GLI with a Michigan plate on the back. I was blasting that around up there today to get some good review time in on my day off.
Out of the cars I have driven up there to 10/10, I think for the road surface, and the road itself, nothing has quite topped the Mitsubishi Evo.
Alt Rt 7
149 Ford Ann to Granville
A couple I like to incorporate in my day trips here.
Rt 23a from Palenville - Haines Falls
Lots of elevation, lots of corners and a 55 limit. Avoid weekends or try to go on off hours cause there tends to be a lot of traffic and people walk on the shoulder down to the waterfall.
rt 97 Port Jervis - The Hawks Nest
Obviously not 518 but definitely an epic road within a days journey of Albany. Lots of good surrounding road with long straights.
Moose River Plains - 20 Miles of dirt road from Indian Lake to Inlet
Usually well packed and with a couple of smooth spots but for the most part it is rocky or wavy. Lots of good hiking and sight seeing to do and a few campsites and outhouses along the way.
Those are probably the three I frequent the most, will have to check out some of these other ones.
I have a Lancer Ralliart coming in August, I’m definitely going to hit up that dirt road and do a rally stage.
