Is that one any good? Thevboard ppl seem to like em. Though that one will prob be all full up with 100 people by the time I get the cash for a header.
Anyways, if that ones trash or it’s all gone, what should I get? 4-2-1 or 4-1? If I read right from thevboard 4-2-1 is for low/mid performance and 4-1 is for top end? There’s a Nismo 4-1 header for 551$ new > http://www.autocarparts.com/part/1195/2/
How safe are headers to buy used? I have no clue what to expect buyen performance parts, all my previous cars all I’ve ever even considered buying for are replacement parts to keep it going…
The absolute best one to go with is the DC sports header because for the same price as the other name brand stuff it comes with a mid-pipe as well, which is a nice bonus.
After that, Hotshot is pretty good. The SS autochrome ones turn an ugly purple when you start the car the first time, but if you don’t car they offer just as much performance as the others.
The 4-1 headers are supposed to help top end, but no one has ever done side by side tests to confirm these theories on our cars, so take that bit of advice with a grain of salt. I know I’ve been really happy with my hotshot unit.
There isn’t usually a problem with buying used headers as long as they’ve been well treated. Watch for stress cracks on the engine flange and the bottom collector.
Just take the $150.00 SS Autochrome who cares if it get discoloured from the heat so is the exhaust on my bike. if you are really worriedabout it get s nickel plating done on it, personally I care more about the performance aspect than anything and if the price is right why not.
i bought the Tuning pros header and its done me just right, it was 250. turns a funny colour but big whoop im not going for engine show. it gave me 7whp and i lost 0.5wtq. and it was such a good mod, made my loud car alot louder, and a nice kick of power as well. if you can get a 4-2-1 cause then you get the midpipe as well, but thats no biggie cause you can buy that later if you want.
i had a hard time choosing between a 4-1 and 4-2-1 but the price is what got me.
Well when your making the choice between a 4-1 and 4-2-1 setup you should think about the kind of car you want to build. One will make more power top end, the other will make more power in the mid range. If your planning to autocross the car you will want the mid range for sure. Just because it makes more total power doesn’t always mean its the best for you application. I really wish companies would look at the average power gained instead of the top number.
Bah… All this shit is so fucken confusing. I think I’m just gonna save my money for now and just buy stuff when I figure out what’s what. For now I’m just too confused.
