Best IPhone compeditor?

well, thanks for the input peeps.

I ended up going with the iphone. It seemed like the best bang for the buck, as far as what I was looking for in a phone. I fucking love it, although I felt dirty installing itunes on my PC (needed to activate it)

and I’m now known in my circle of friends, who know my hatred for apple, as the sellout lol

so far, I’m actually impressed with the speed but the keyboard is a little tricky to get used to. A friend of mine that has one said that you get used to it pretty quick though, we shall see.

time to start hacking it for homebrew apps

nes emulator FTW

oh and Joe, thanks for the heads up. I mentioned that our company uses at&t and got a 5% discount (better than nothing)

ppc-6800… mogul

good call man, the iPhone is bad ass - i am still totally considering it as an addition to my current VZW phone, which pisses me off that I am even thinking about it :stuck_out_tongue:

lol trust me… I’m by no means an apple fan (look at almost all of my posts about apple lol), but I gotta admit… it really is a pretty nice phone.

I just wish they’d release a flash plugin for safari so you can video flash content  that’s my only real gripe

did they tell you if there is any grace period that you can return & cancel contract if you don’t like it? I’d like to try one out

i think it’s like 19 days or something

tits, full refund? if so i’m going to go grab one… I want to see how well the exchange server sync works.

They will apparently be integrating PUSH email soon…

The problem with the iphone is all of the haters that really don’t understand the reason the iphone kick ass…

Everyone focuses on Features, Network, blah blah blah.

The reason the iphone is awesome and the reason why they are going to revolutionize the mobile industry in the US is because of one reason only. The INTERFACE.

The phone is just amazing to use, everything is incredibly intuitive, no manual is needed to figure anything out. My grandma can figure this thing out.

Visual Voicemail > *
Conversational SMS > *
Enhanced Google Maps and Local Search Integration > *
Fully Featured Safari > *

Until you actually USE an iphone on a daily basis, there is no way to describe all of the little amazing stuff built into the UI that enhances the user experience.

My Q could do most everything that the iphone can do, but it was so clunky and unreliable to use that I hated it, and never used any of the features.

I am 6’3" 230 and have huge hands, and I have no problem typing entire emails on the keyboard. You need to commit to using two thumbs and trusting autocomplete, but it works and works well.

90% of the time I am using the more “network intensive” features, I am at home or work, with a wifi signal available, so the EDGE network is not a huge concern for me. It works well enough that I have not had any issues or complaints with it yet.

I did not like making the switch to AT&T, but so far it has been OK, and works better in my office than my VZW phone did.

I’m pretty sure but don’t quote me. like I said, ZERO regrets (so far)

although it’s retarded that it doesn’t take SDmicro cards or any kind of expandable memory

+1, the Iphone fucking rocks

Correct me if I am wrong, but is 8gb not the most memory available (even after expansion) on any phone?

not sure… but in theory, on a phone with removable storage, it’s really limitless. You could have an infinite amount of memory cards to swap in and out.

only reason why it bums me out a little is that video takes up so much damn room

lol, not even 24 hours and have a hacked 3rd party application installer, unix tools, terminal, sketcher program and some simple pong game

this phone is pretty tits

Just so you know, everything you listed is most likely going to be gone as soon as apple releases a new firmware update, which may be any day.

They announced that any firmware updates will “more than likely” break any 3rd party software at this point.

no there are 16gb SDHC cards out, working on 36+ coming out soon

That’s not real confidence inspiring.

Do you think they will force an update though? Seems like a lot of people, especially foreign, plan to not update until it is confirmed that the ‘hacks’ still work. Are you talking about OTA updates?
