EDIT: props to neurokinetik for posting this back in the day on UBRF

Wix are damn good filters. the k&n oil filters are expensive but nice… I usually use those or the mobil 1 filters.

i like purolator

i like ac delco

I go with the purolator PURE ONE, F oem, even though mine comes with a nifty crush washer. Just make sure you run syth. oil, leave that dino crap in the dirt where it belongs. well, i guess use it for our other petro products…

being ignorant is great and all, but some of you guys really might wanna take a look at my linky above

I took a look at it. The guy explained what all the numbers mean fairly well, but it’s sort of difficult to compare when they are all on separate charts on a long page.

ok. here’s the cliffs notes of the whole thing. his overview:

I use Fram because they have cardboard inside the filters, where everyone else uses metal. Carboard is waaay lighter than metal.

On the reeealz though, I use whatever filter the store I pick up the oil at has in the $3 range. I change my oil every 3k, it’s not a $45k car, I don’t need mobil 1. She also gets 87 too, lol.

OEM Bosch

Purolator Pure1 FTW… Wix are good also. Napa uses Wix. Mobil are good but they are overpriced.

Mobil 1 Oil and Filter because I get them @ work for VERY cheap.

ghettostyleTA,that is a very informative link that i’ve seen before,I’ve also read up on bobistheoilguy.com (forums).

You can ask the guys on the forums what is a good oil filter and everyone will chime in and name a different filter/brand.Someone will bash Fram,Someone who used fram for 20 years without problems will stick up for them.

The bottom line is that if you’re changing it every 3000 miles there isnt much to worry about. Its worth the extra thought if you’re doing extended interval/high performance though.

Purolator Pure One
AC Delco (top notch for the price)
Hastings
NAPA gold (wix)
Carquest blue (also wix)
Mobil 1 (expensive but top notch)
K&N (expensive but top notch)

fram has the be the shittiest filter you can put on a car…i’ve been working for dealerships for almost 5 years and every time i see an engine being rebuilt it has a fram filter stuck on it…now that doesnt exactly prove anything but i sure as hell wont buy one

ac delco all the way

this is “the best” out there for honda’s http://www3.telus.net/public/a6a26885/images/HAMP-Filter
