Filter Media tears in Purolator filters

Cross posting this.

Like the title says, there has been a rash of Purolator oil filters turning up with tears in the filter media. There have been several instances reported at BITOG (Bob is the Oil Guy), as well as at other automotive forums. Here are a
couple to get you started:

Moved to net-wide, good info

I read this as a crying news anchor’s tears in a filter

yup

Napa gold filters FTW.

Napa Gold all day

My buddy had a Purolator implode and grenade the motor in his F150, prolly under 15K miles on it. Pep boys / Purolator paid for a new motor.

x3

Ah poop. I always use PureOne on my car. I gotta do an oil change on it soon. I’ll hack the can open and see what it looks like.

I read bobistheoilguy like a crack addict.

I have no interest in changing my oil, not sure why I read it.

napa gold here too.

ACDelco hurrr.

All Mann here

Sent from my iPhone 5

ONLY Napa Gold.

uses old oil filters hurr…

i always use OEM filters

K&N for me!

Is this all about all Purolator filters or just the cheap Classic series?

Nissan Z-Only OEM Nissan filters (I have a case)
Ford F150-Motorcraft
Saturn Vue-Bosch

I usually use Purolators.
Ive read on several F150 sites to stay away from Fram filters because of the drain back or something like that not being good for the 5.4.

Mostly the same here
