5’7 140lbs. How is the bike and the price?

WTF?

52cm Is still pretty small for someone @ 5’7". Bike looks good to me, but I’ll let the more serious guys chime in on that.

I spy a pancake motor, potentiometer and battery pack. DIY or a kit?

5/13 ride at Holiday valley.

Not a lot of kit left on that bike. Mostly modified or repurposed parts.

depending on your frame 52cm is more than likely fairly small I you would want to be at least at 54 or 56cm depending on if you are more legs/torso

I’m 6’3’’ most guys my height are riding 60’s but I’m more comfortable on a 58cm bike. I would go stop in a bike shop and have someone fit you before spending any decent money on a bike.

Hunters creek the other afternoon. Great trails!

I agree, I’m riding a Trek 2.3 right now.

Also if anyone has an Iphone check out lifeproof cases/mounts. I used to stuff one of my phones into my pouch along with spare tire and c02 inflators, now I can just mount it on my bars and have gps.

Thanks for the infos! I used the on-line calculator puting in my height and weigh. It says i fit on a 51cm frame or 20". I will go to Berts to get a right fit.

How do you like your tires? I have the exact same ones on my cannonade and when it’s wet and I hit some roots, there’s a good chance I’m going down.

For those of you that have purchased from bikesdirect.com. How are they holding up? I would like to pick up a road bike as running isn’t an option for me this summer due to a knee injury. I was looking at this one: http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/wellington2_IX.htm

I try to avoid wet days/trails but so far the grip has been fine.

My main problem has been the stock pedals and grips. New Lizard Skin grips and some nashbar platform pedals have cured that. These local trails at wnymba.com have been so technical I finally decided to stop being a dumbass and get a nice helmet too.

That is just what you would expect it to be, a price point bike. Sora components are pretty low end. They actually fucking suck, plain and simple. Tiagra also suck. I’d look to get something with 105 components if you are going to get a bike.

I like my wellington, haven’t ridden it a whole lot but it’s a decent bike. If you’re going in expecting a Cannondale when purchasing this, you’ll be sorely disappointed. It’s a good cruising bike if you aren’t a serious rider.

I’m sure a Wellington will handle the 100 mile per year abuse of the northtowns just fine…

What kid of clip ins are you guys using? Road or mtn bike…I need a set real bad, more for my mtn bike tho

Staying away from clipless for now and just using platform until I progress enough to justify being locked in. A nice set of platform pedals with adjustable grip allen screws will be fine for me for now and allow me to step off the bike much easier.

If anything spend the money on a set of crank brothers platforms with the egg beater in the middle. Great combo for clipless and casual riding IMO.

Thoughts on these?

I realy just wanted the egg beaters, but I couldn’t find the words a few minutes ago to describe them. They have been recommended to me a few times now by a few riding buddies.

Also, anyone want to ride Chestnut ridge tomorrow or Friday?
