Almost done building my rig.

Suntour front fork, shimono Cranks, Avid bb7 brakes. and a few other things. Rims I have to look into again but have them at the shop.

Is that from the vintage when Gary Klein was making them? Basically, a first generation Klein?

No it’s a 2002. Still made in the USA, but it doesn’t have that weird threadless bottom bracket that Klein’s had in the 90’s. I got it as a frame and basically started fresh.

Nice. Those ride so nice. I recently grabbed a CAAD9-last of the American made ones. It ride SO FREAKING nice-I LOVE IT

Here’s my fggt bike.

Hope the bike is done today, but may not be till Friday. Cant wait to try it out this weekend! 24 miles at Holiday valley, just hope these guys at the shop realize I cant have it break while riding. lol

You paid someone else money to glue it together? I take working on stuff for granted sometimes… I still have my stand and most tools necessary to build whatever I want from when I worked at a shop for a while and considering I’ve been riding forever, paying a shop just isn’t viable.

Finally got her done and was able to ride for a Saturday.

Thanks to fiend540 for building this and big e for selling it to me! Love this bike, rode it all summer long. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Def going to pick up a road bike for next spring, but this seems like a bike I will keep forever

Your next step should be to remove your tree hooks.

Old school trek 8900 xtr set up

I am looking into getting a road bike. How are they on your back, Hitting bumps or anything. My spine is shot and cant take much abuse.

Worst case senerio… get a full suspension bike if it really bothers you that much. Put some road style tires on and call it a day. You wont have full power out of the bike since the suspension can steal some of the power you produce… but it will save your back in the long run.

Where do you plan on riding said road bike? Any quality aluminum road bike with a carbon fork and seat steam will ride very nice and not hurt your back. If you go through a giant pothole then yes, you’re going to feel that. I’d worry about fit as that can make you miserable on a road bike if not correct.

I have a CAAD 8 love how smooth it is

1972 Schwinn Varsity. Got it from the original owner, complete with owners manual. I plan to restore it over winter to brand-new specs.

Woah you’re not going to turn it into a fixed gear?!

Nope, I’m not a trendster and I aquired this for the sheer purpose of enjoyable excercise. LOL.

How hard does it get to pedal with the light roller engaged? I love the ride of my steel winter bike-not the lightest thing out there but it rides NICE. WHat are you going to do on Schwinn for shifters? Run sti style with the little adjusters on the down tube?
