Comin around just like a reach around!
lol steve
DAMN, looking good!!
spent most of today getting the fuel system all sorted away, I built a tank vent. However due to the design of the filler neck I needed to add a secondary vent to let air out when the car is being filled with gas. This proved to be quite a project
so out came the tank, notice the old gas in the pan which would explain why the car wasnt running great after the body shop.
had a AN fitting welded on the tank for the vent hose.
tank all back in with the filler neck back on, not pictured but the top of the filler neck has a tube on it that the hose slides on to.
the next area of concern was the fuel lines that ran right above the exhaust, granted they were hard lines but I wrapped them in fire sleeve to prevent vapor lock.
I also got the mirrors mounted.
Holy fucking move shit off the shelves before it falls on the car.
Two things Dave. One if that silicon boot you have in the fuel filler tube is in fact a silicon part, REMOVE it and replace with rubber. Gas eats silicone and you’ll end up with a clogged fuel system in no time. I only say this because it looks like a silicone boost coupler type thing.
Two, put a one way check valve/rollover valve inline in that vent tube. One of the simple ball check valves is fine, can be had from summit for cheap(or ebay it if needed)
adam the hose on the filler neck or the actual tank vent?
the 90 on the filler looks like a silicone piece, i think that’s what he’s talking about.
no for the check valve.
the 90 is a vibrant piece I put it in gas overnight and it was fine but if you think I should get something else Ill grab something. any idea on where to get a 2.25" 90?
well both.
On the filler tube right before it meets the tank you appear to have a 90 degree silicon boost coupler hooking the fill tube to the tank. That should be rubber.
Then on the small vent line going from the tank to where ever you routed the line…if it is not connected back to the filler tube it should have a rollover ball check valve in it. This not so much of a huge deal, it’s just one of those “just in case” type things.
The silicone coupler though. That can make things real ugly if it is a typical silicone coupler.
