Bike suggestions?

A friend of mine had a GS500 for his first bike, same exact one that was pictured on page one. They are good starter bikes, they run good for what they are, i think they list at mid 13’s in the 1/4, much better then a 250. Stay away from those off brand bikes like Hyosung or whatever they are called, they are junk.

K, thanks for the info, I figgered that about the I posted, just seen it was a good price but never heard of it before. Also, I am kinda undesided on the GS500 mainly becouse I want something I can keep for a few years and not get bored with the power

buy an r6. they go for 7500ish way too fast. but good first bike. or something used that you won’t mind if you lay it down

True Story. GS500 is a blast to ride & cheap to fix. They’ve been building it for many years relatively unchanged until the last couple of years.

Ducati is not a great starter bike. Labor intensive, parts are expensive, & they require lots of maintenance

Definately worth taking the course. I rode 4000 miles before the course. After I took the MSF course, I had no idea how I rode before it. You’ll get more out of it if you intend to learn. Most guys take it with the idea that they have to, to get their license, so they don’t put much into it. I took it 5 years ago with the idea that I wanted to learn all that I could.

The Suzuki GS500 is a parallel twin. It is rather sporting, but not a really fast bike (still faster than most stock cars & almost all Harley Davidsons  ). If you are a smaller person, it is a great fit. I am 5’11" 240 lbs, I look like a clown on one. Still alot of fun. Very lightweight.

Your comment on the front fairing…they changed the plastics in 2004 (they brought the bike back to USA after a year or two of not importing it). It was not selling well (probably because of the looks), so they introduced it with a more sport-bike style with a front fairing, engine covers, etc. Still the same bike underneath, though. I enclosed a pic below.

http://gstwin.com/ is a good site devoted to the GS500 series

Sweet, thanks a LOT. Thats nice, I am about 5’ 10" and 160lbs, so I dunno how I would fit. DEFFINETLY looks better to me with the plastic

Got a 2004 Kawi zx6r (636) 5800 miles. needs re-painted and repairs on plastics. Never wrecked but dropped on its side.

just for the heck of it, what do you want for it?

first $4400 will take it.

You’ll fit fine.

I got a freind w/ a '04 636 never wrecked/no damage that wants about $4500. Silver & 4100 miles.

hey man id hafta say look for an r6…they are fast and fun but still only 600cc and easy to ride(peg to peg bike with perfect balance)…when i first bought mine i had never been on anything bigger than a 250 dirt bike and i had no problem transitioning into the crotch rocket world…and the riding class is def a plus…the 636’s are nice to…almost bought one myself…just keep checkin the bike trader and paper…believe me you’ll find em…good luck

Thanks, I have always liked the r6(look wise) and heard it was a good bike. But they seem to go for a lot of money. I wouldn’t even mind a 99’

np dude…they are great bikes and yea sorry i forgot they made them in 99 but ive seen them in the bike trader for like 4-5g and they always looked nice and had lower miles so id suggest you keep checkin and keep an eye out because with the warmer weather comin ull start seein them for sale in ppls yards and shit…the only problem with mine is i bought it new and now i owe more than i want to onit and id like to get an r1, damn those sales ppl are good …another suggestion which i think would suit you would be honda f4i not as much power but the ones ive ridden seemed good…
