HAMBURG, NY - Hamburg Police are investigating an accident that occurred last Friday involving a car driven by Buffalo Bills DT Marcell Dareus.
Hamburg Police say they received a call about two vehicles allegedly racing on Route 179 near McKinley Parkway.
Before officers arrived on scene, one of the cars, a white Jaguar, crashed near the Mongolian Buffet Restaurant, striking a tree and causing extensive damage to the vehicle.
Witnesses told police that they saw two vehicles, the white Jaguar and a black Camero, were speeding down Route 179 just before the Jaguar crashed.
Police say the Jaguar was driven by Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus, 24.
Dareus is charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving and participating in an illegal speed contest. He was arraigned Monday in court. He is due back in court June 17.
They are also saying the 2nd driver is Jerry Hughes, also on the Bills.
Fred Jackson tried to get me to race the Lotus down McKinley last year, it’s not surprising one of them finally crashed. Not exactly the area you want to be driving that fast through.
Exactly. He was street racing and hit a tree. Any decent lawyer would get this knocked down to nothing more than some points and a fine. I can’t believe the nonsense about “trade him, drop him, he’s worthless”. With as hard as the Bills struggle to sign good players I’m not sure why everyone in is in such a hurry to dump a great one over such minor offenses.
“Challenging someone for slips is a reference to the film “Fast & Furious,” where one race car driver would challenge another, and whoever won the race would get the “pink slips” of the loser’s vehicle, thereby transferring ownership to the winner.”
A lot of players have admitted, you get a bunch of 20-24 year olds with a bunch of spare time in the off season before the off season training camps start with a ton of money. It is not uncommon for them to get into trouble, or anyone really. Glad this wasn’t the worst. People on this forum have crashed street racing. Not anything out of the ordinary for someone with a car and free time.
24yo doing dumb 24yo shit. Hope this proves as a wakeup call for him, and I’m glad he didn’t hurt anyone else. Nothing to see here, move along.
From what I understand, it doesn’t show up on random drug tests, and offers a similar high. Depending on the municipality/state it’s anything from a violation to a felony.
