John i dont think you realise how much of a compliment that is, thank you.
yeah i was trying for something different but i may have set the bar a bit high to start. I have to think up some other fancier stuff now for my next event that i am already working on.
btw, i think i may take you up on your NSX come late november because i dont know if i will be able to get another winter beater this coming fall…lol
I’m dissipointed that I didn’t get to come check out your booth now! It sounds like it was pretty cool and I’ve heard only good things about your set up.
You’ve definitely got that unique touch necessary to leave just the right impression on potentials.
i helped walter set his up, they looked and felt nice as a first impression - i dont have any driving experience with them though… or even too much ride along experience for that matter…
I’m happy with them, I’ve ran them now for 3 track days and have no complaints. Damping is decent in my eyes, very crisp. However, they are light years ahead of anything I’ve driven on before so I have no comparison.
At first they were very sharp over bumps (sorta like over damped), almost to sharp. After the first track run they loosened up and feel alot better and seem to follow the road better.
Did you guys pop in the 9/7 springs or the 8/6. I’m only running the 8/6 and they are stiff enough in my opinion (for street that is).
i do have one complaint… the actual travel seems to be pretty high - we had to jack walters car up pretty high in order to get them to stop rubbing even on full dapening… like gay high. and he’s on pretty conservative wheel sizes too, i think 235 or 225 in the front where its rubbing… cant remember now.
on the megans even w/ the 8/6’s when i cranked the dampening it was useless - basically had no suspension travel.
everything bump was like hitting a curb and trying to corner was useless unless it was an absolute perfect surface — they would just come right off the ground and you’d like traction like nothing… not that this is a good thing but just for comparison heh. they’re definitely nicer than the megan streets
i think maybe these stance are geared slightly more towards street than the megan “streets” are. less harsh, more travel, more comfortable, etc. even on higher spring rates.
I’ll be interested to see how walters feel now after hes been driving on them a while - I was only in the car after a couple of days of driving on them. my megans took a while to break in fully
Mine are harsh as hell on 8/6 springs. I drove my buddies car which has megans and they felt more streetable then my setup :?
Yeah I drove on the street with mine for 1 month before I tracked the car. Wasn’t till after I tracked that they broke in.
I’m slammed and I have no rubbing issues what so ever. How much preload is he running?
hhahaha isn’t it weird how they felt different. I’m wondering which version of the stance coils Walter has. They came out with a new version that includes helper springs and longer travel dampers.
Thats how my car sits, wish I had better picture. I had slight rubbing issues under braking at dunville but I cranked up the perload another 10mm, bent back the seam on strut tower and that fixed my problem. I think I’m now running 20mm up front and 10mm out back.
Andrew, Walters don’t have helper springs - do yours?
Preload, if I remember correctly we set it to around 15mm to 20mm front – cant remember the back
we were all fucked up trying to figure out why theres so much travel
what dapening are you running? i hope there’s nothing wrong with his - he did buy them very very slightly used (they looked pretty much brand new) but i really don’t think there should be that much travel in them at full dapening driving around on the street - like were talking almost gay ride height (car still looks hot) on FULL dapening with 9/7 springs and quite a lot of preload and taking a hard corner near his house he could get it to rub – whats up with that.
walter needs to chime in here, i have’t talked to him about it in a few weeks - maybe he’s solved the problem…
