IRC may be old and outdated but it is still solid. It’s also still under the public radar for piracy. Being a bit more confusing to use keeps the newbs away too.

I have stopped using bit torrents for the most part. Everyone I can think of has been under some kind of anti piracy pressure with law suits and stuff.

Norton’s sucks too from my own personal experiences over the years.

I use irc for a lot of things. torrents and p2p programs are ok, but don’t have 1/2 of the things that irc has. outdated or not, it’s still the best way(newsgroups are a close second).
