so this just started happening on my desktop which is a pos but hey it still runs. ill start it up and everything is fine for the first 10 min or so, but after that the screen goes plank and it says its not getting a signal. so ill restart the computer and its fine for another 10-15 min. whats wrong with it? and the vga out is not directly attached to the mother board.
Make sure you have the newest versions of your video drivers
Try a different monitor
Try a different video card
^^what he said.
Also, to kind of ‘verify’ it’s a card/driver, go to the boot menu (f8 key after the computer’s turned on) and choose ‘enable vga mode’.
we’ve gotten a few computers in at work that have been doing the same thing, specifically with nvidia graphics cards/chipsets. if you have no problems with the computer w/ vga mode enabled, go to the computer manufactuers website and download the latest driver for the video/chipset and make sure to not allow windows update to install it’s ‘updated drivers’ for those devices.
/\ 100% right. thanks for the help.
