i took my car to a local body shop (which i am not gonna release the name) to get my back bumper put on. the shop i took it to first of all usually does respectiful work so i paid him ahead of time. when they took the old bumper off they took the reinforcement bar off which is illegal to do. Then they lined the new bumper up and drilled the holes which every hole they drilled has cracked. when they tried to fit the bumper on the car they sqeezed the sides together instead of saying it didnt fit and as they did that the bumper cracked in two places. Also the top of the bumper(from all the preasure) became wavy. they said that if they cut a line down the center of the bumper it would releave some preasure so they cut a line down the middle and it didnt do anything. and line is about 3-4inches long and they didnt even fix that. as they put the bumper on the gap between the top of the bumper and the trunk lid is about 4inches because of the reinforcement bar not being in. they only put 2 screws on each side of the bumper to hold the bumper on. they told me that they would fix the cracks and the cut for $250 instead of doing it for free since they cracked it. after they cracked it they laughed about it also. Also they broke my license plate light and they had to create a slice right above the license plate to make the plate fit. as a joke they thought it was funny to right my license plate number with black marker and said i didnt need a plate.
they didnt tell me if they broke they would pay for it they never said anything or made me sign anything. dont body shops normally have insurance for this type of stuff?
in this pic you can see how the whole is cracked (every hole)
pic of reinforcement bar
in this pic you can see the slit they made to supposely release pressure
this is one of the cracks that was made by them
is there anything i can do to get the body shop to fix of pay for a new bumper? since they are the ones that did the damage and laughed about it?
I took it to a nother body shop after i left the body shopt that put it on for me they where like :eek2: what was this bodyshop thinking when they installed it?
SoLowXtreme has seen it in person and seen how bad it was
You should have the bumper bar on there or you could get seriously fucked if rear ended. Were they going to paint it? If so, maybe they were planning on repairing it then
but i am going to try to get ahold of the owner of the bodyshop to see if he will do anyhting about it i called there earlyer he said the owner was busy with a customer but he will have him call me well it is almost 5 pm he left for the day and i got no call
well … if it didn’t fit and you took it to a body shop to get ‘molded’ and paid for it, then that sucks… but if you didn’t pay the price for the work and just wanted them to hang something that doesn’t fit worth dick, i’m not surprised…
whats the point of painting after the fact? just wait to put it on and paint at the same time… more time of it being on there and a chance of getting damaged :kekegay: before you even paint it.?
post the name/location cause it looks like they make be out to fuck you… and that would be something good for the rest of us to know about. the fact that they even suggest you pay MORE money to fix what they fucked up is rediculous.
that is called teh drift rear bumper dont know i dont make them haha.
also seems like a poor quailty piece you got there. since the shop did the damage they should be reliable
the quailty of the part is not that bad really it is what they calle vfiber it has plastic in with the fiberglass to make it a little stronger .
what paint job for a normal car costs 4grand?
shaved all locks, door handels, taillights, taillights. and custom 2 tone paint job

Actually, with it being a fiberglass kit, it’s best to get it mounted and drive with it a little bit. That way if it gets any stress cracks or anything, they can be repaired before it’s painted–much less costly this way. Believe me, I hate the people who drive forever with an unpainted kit, but in this case, he does have a set date to get it painted, so it’s not really a bad thing.
With urethane on the other hand, you don’t want to drive around with it unpainted as that can make it harder to paint (road grime/oils can get embedded in the urethane).
not tryin to be a dick, just sheddin some light on the situation.
the actual fiberglass its self will crack on the very top coat of it that will be becuse of stress usely and if it was painted the paint would crack the same way so in order to save the paint. and some money i was told to drive around for about a month so if it is going to do it it will and it can be fixed and then painted so i dont to go send it back to the shop less then a few months after i get it out of the shop
