Bore Out KA

I might be buying a KA and building it up on a stand. Its Going To be NA… I know turbo you’ll get more power ill cost less. Plz don’t tell me this. I was wondering How much a KA can be bored out to… Its 2.4L could it Be taken to 2.6 or maybe even a bit higher? I think Its very possible with the right upgrades to get a KA to 200WHP+. What type of after market Pistons could I find that will support the maximum bore for this motor?

well u can start with something like this

http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/strokerkits_nissan.html

its a stroker kit. Then do cams, flywheel, pullys, intake, ignition, header, exhaust, some sr injectors and get it tuned, then maybe u will see around 180whp if ur lucky…

To be honest, i know people want a na ka. but seriously, save ur money and just slap a turbo on that biatch(i know u dont want to hear that) or spend the 5-6grand ur gonna spend on ur ka and get a V8 if u want na power.

there was a Factory N/A ka that made 200 or 200 i think… only 5 or so were made.
Its possible.

Well, I know for a fact that theres people out there with 200whp N/A sr’s. so im sure its possible to make a ka that powerful…It all depends on how much money you have…or better yet, how you use it.

snowboard if u did all that shit and a port and polish im sure ud hit much higher than 200hp…

11.0:1 JE pistons
Crower rods
Polished and lightened crankshaft
All internals balanced
Ported and polished cylinder head
Port-matched and extrude honed intake
Custom cams 228 duration 390 lift @ .050 lash
All new valves(could go as far as custom titanium)
Bored and polished throttle body
Injen intake with cai
header
exhaust with electric cutout installed after first convertor
radiator
Underdrive pulleys
Fidanza flywheel
New ACT clutch
370cc injectors
300zx fuel pump and filter upgrade
Two 10" Electric fans

these are all the NA mods u could do. I think a ka might be just a little over 200whp. If it saw 220whp i would be really suprised.

The 350z motor VQ35DE is a V6. its one of the best new motors in the world. U cant deny that its been on the top 10 list for years running. That motor makes 240whp stock. If u put flywheel, pullys, plenum spacer, pop charger, cams, ur still under 300whp. The peak horsepower on a VQ is a hard thing to make more of. But the mid range will do alot better. With just the nismo cams in the VQ u get 15 more hp iirc at 3000rpm, which is a big difference.

So now that i have wrote this i have come to think, even if a ka only made 200whp thats still good. Maybe a n/a ka will make really high hp at low rpm which is good for drag.

Maybe these arent the answers but untill somebody comes out with some hard evidence of their ka i still beleive 200whp is a hard/expensive thing to get to on a ka. Is it worth it? Probably not. I think if u want an NA ka go get urself a carb’d SOHC im sure that would probably make more power

Stock ECU map with the cold air intake, header, exhaust and running 94 octane we found 145 RWHP and 166 ft/lbs Torque.

ECU tune with cold air intake, header, exhaust and running 104 octane we found 177 RWHP and 182 ft/lbs Torque.

thats 104 octane they are talking pump has here i would assume. The only thing lose to 104 octane is race fuel, or low lead aviation fuel. Av gas will burn hotter than normal though due to the low lead in it

Better question is why the AV?

Little too crazy on the timing or what?

Any stock motor that needs 104 octane to run on a dyno = hand grenade for the street.

Really high horsepower at low RPM?

Uh … how about torque?

A 200 whp KA would be pretty fricking fast.

Unless you can do it on a conservative tune with pump gas, why bother?

You don’t build an NA motor with nonsense horsepower numbers in your head. You build the best NA motor you can to match your driving style and ability.

If all you want is “200 hp” just run a 50 shot through your stock motor.

Get yourself an AEM EMS http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php/topic,10009.0.html Or any standalone to start with. They are fun to play with (if you know what your doing) and the power keeps on adding up with the mods you throw at it.

I sincerely doubt the laws of physics care what you think.
Actually read up on the topic before you waste money, over 200whp on a KA has only been achieved with a ridiculous amount of mods, and none of the cars were streetable anymore. The head is garbage and the stroke is too long.

If you wanna do this project which i support cause itd be pretty cool to do and learn shit. i have a block you can buy 50 dollars and u can have the block pistons and all already inside it. u can take them out just let me kno

And I have a block and head for free :stuck_out_tongue: Lets see who wins.

For the above two offers… Whats the conidition on the motor and DOHC OR SOHC?

DOHC, it was in running condition before, but it’s been sitting there with no valvecover and oilpan for awhile. Camshafts are also not included.

So ummm how much more displacement can be gotten from a bore.

its 2.7 i beleive
