"CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.
Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist."
They post a Workout of the Day every day, so us guys that are too lazy to develop our own plan can follow a well designed workout routine. They’ve got a pretty substantial glossary and video library of individual exercises so when the workout of the day includes something you’ve never done or maybe never heard of you can look up what it is and how to do it properly. There are forums and stuff too that I haven’t checked out.
An Army buddy of mine (well he’s in the army and he’s my buddy, I’m a puss and have never done anything physically harder than double session JV soccer practices) turned me onto it when I was bitching about building muscle but not strength. (I hurt my shoulder lifting a college dorm bed with one arm while sliding a cinder block into place with the other.)
I just started following the workouts and it’s actually kind of fun. Pretty varied, something new every day, a lot of exercises that I would never just try on my own.
Oh no kidding. What made it a crossfit gym? Just less meathead equipment and mostly people doing this stuff or what?
I’ve only done two workouts, er attemted two workouts, but I’m going to stick with it.
Tuesday’s was fun.
Five rounds for time of:
Row 250 meters
135 pound Front squat, 10 reps
15 GHD Sit-ups
20 Box jumps, 24 inch box
My wrists are too tight for front squats so I had to put the bar on my back. Someone stole my squat rack after my third round and thank God they did or I would have fallen over. I haven’t worked out regularly since May so I have a feeling this will have me back in shape pretty quickly.

cross fit gym. it’s big money and too far out of the way for me to consider joining. I’ve made quite a few gains lately upping protein intake and breaking through some plateaus with NO.
