So my car is uninsured and just sitting in the garage and I have a pair of
Z32 calipers waiting to go on. I figure now is a good time to replace all
my brake pads (front Z32, rear stock).
So recommend me something.
Basically I want my brake setup to be pretty well balanced. Not too
aggressive, not too weak. Daily driven car, tracked on occasion.
I do drive fast and I brake hard as well (even on the street) so
preferablly something that will at least last one season.
I don’t know much about brake material or wear rate or any of that sort.
So some information on where I can read up on this would be cool as well.
But in the meantime, post what you have in terms of brake pads and why
you chose it and how much it cost you.
Rotors wise, I’ll probablly get cross drilled or slotted. Depends on my
budget and recommendation.
Use slotted or cross drilled rotors, and i use Monroe brake pads. Work really good and have a 60,000km warranty on them. So if you drive hard on them and they are worn out by 20,000kms just bring them back for new ones.
What about Williams pads from WTZ? Tons of solo 1 and 2 guys use them. Check out solo2ontario.com and look for username wpfri. Haven’t used them myself but have heard only good things about them.
I got KVR cross drilled rotors and KVR farbon fiber metallic brake pads all the way around, Im very happy with the performance considering Im using stock calipers. I totally recomend KVR I was impressed by the difference. :thumright:
the hawks pads sound so sweet, they chirp everytine you brake, im using raybestes not sure the type but there performance pads, no brake dust, much better feel, and im going on my second season with them and still running without hint of that dirty squeak you get from cheap, or old pads

Actually the warranty does not cover “normal” wear and tear. If the pad brakes or cracks then your warranty applies with your receipt.
Unless of course your crack them yourself once you take them out.
BTW, I work at Canadian tire in Ottawa. Cost of Monroe pads to store = $28, Cost to head office =$12.
i use Carbotech Panther+…its an autox based street pad and pretty good for road use…kinda pricey though. Last a while (on first set) and they havent killed the rotors on my car or my buddy’s tracked sti. 10k miles so far.
