Brand new battery...Keeps dying...Help

What are the typical places on the S13 that keep drawing power? I put in a new battery in to my car and left it for a few days, today I go out to turn it over to find a gas leak and the battery is dead, I didnt have the keys in it or the lights on, so I dont know what could be drawing all this power.

Typically … none.

Is the battery light on while the car is running?
Could be charging system

Otherwise you are going to have to use an amp meter and figure out what is wrong.

PS: Letting the battery be run down = a quick way to ruin a battery. So try and avoid that! Unplug the negative terminal if you are not sure what the problem is until you fix it.

I don’t know how common the problem is but I had a cargo area light that wouldn’t go off…
I just pulled the bulb

Thanks guys, I’ll check in to the bulb but i’m pretty sure everything was off, the car dosnt run yet so its not a charging problem for sure, I know my power doorlocks malfunctioned, the lever to lock/unlock the door will not budge, but I dont think that would be the cause of power being drawn.

If any more of you can come up with suggestions, let me know.

Well if the car isn’t running how do you expect the battery to be charged?

If the door lock button is stuck in one position and the actuators are beingfed constant power that could drain a battery pretty quick …

It is a new battery, they dont just uncharge themselves after a few days of sitting in the car, lol.

So something is wrong with the wiring, you say the actuators may be messed? so how would I go about fixing this problem?

Someone on here was kind enough to give me this link, and it got my battery drain problem solved in 20 minutes. Make sure you read the directions carefully, so you know what terminals you are attaching the multimeter to.

Thanks, i’ll try that out, hopefully it works.
