Buffalo Central Terminal - a look inside

The chance of checking out the tower is slim even as a volunteer at the terminal. Ive only been onto the first floor of the tower, and that was for the sake of doing roof repairs. over the concourse.

Organized tours (member tours or buffalo tours) dont even make it ino the tower currently, and neither have the Ghost Hunters.

2 new pano’s today

first is … uh … damn hear everything behind the building, most of which is the passenger platforms

and then i took a better Pano of downtown too

Painted Mez railings

wall detail on passenger elevator

ceiling detail, original light fixture is missing, fan is still there

controls:

a few more floors up in the tower is one of the mechanical rooms, this was for the 2 platform side elevators

and thats pretty much it for today …

so last weekend @ the terminal i got handed some material i requested.

its the beginning of 4 of these light fixtures:

an no they are NOT a design thats original to the building, but they do have a purpose. Only 3 people @ the terminal have any actual idea what im up to, otherwise i plan on keeping people guessing untill i am ready for someone to run the wiring i’ll need.

after these are done theres a part 2 to this lil project also. but im still working on that design and it would give everything away.

I thought about going to visit that place.
Hmmm… Maybe I should …

come in the spring, we arent really open for tours during the winter

so i guess i was wrong, without even knowing it i managed to copy the train concourse chandalier, lol.

this pic was just posted today on the BCT website:

son of a bitch ! now i have to figure out a replacement design for those 4 lights

sorry guys, wont be updating this anymore, ive removed all the pictures from the web because of complaints.

Complaints? What the hell is there to complain about?

Myself and a friend recently started getting involved with volunteering again after about a 2 year hiatus. We haven’t been able to make it the last 2 saturdays, but we should be there on the 27th. If you meet us say something, I’m Matt, and my friend is Jake. Our friend Brett may also be with us. Bill and Tracy and Ben(older man) took us under their wings when we first started and we really put a lot of time in. So we are just catching up now.

ill be there, hopefully w/ the blueprints for the 7 foot sconces as well. We shall see

said prints, which i CAN post cause their fuckin MINE

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v473/hotrodkid/7footersagain.jpg

what were the complaints about?

basically people having pictures of “restricted areas”

there was much whining about the pictures from the roof, done in the same sentence that blathers on about “going places your not supposed to be”

Im one of a few people that have said roof pics. I took mine when i was on the roof to do some patching, But i still get looked at stupid for having “gone off on my own”

well since the links to the pics in this thread are mostly worthless, heres a link to the skyscrapercity thread which has all the pics (except the blueprints i did) and has the most up to date story.

And no i don’t still volunteer there. Great building. Piss poor management. I quit back in April and retained all the light fixture and mezzanine railing (and some other stuff) blueprints as intellectual property. The Entry Lobby light fixture i was working on is mostly complete and safely stored away. When I buy a house I’ll hang it in my front hallway.
