Buffalo food truck discussion/locations

[LEFT]So I have been reading a lot lately about these food trucks primarily because I did a training course on writing insurance for this type of business and also I have seen them on the news and it got me thinking, I have never tried any of their food. Soooo, what’s good? Where are these things located in Buffalo? I know there are a few of them around, Roaming Buffalo, Lloyd’s taco truck, Cheezy Chick…any others?

Where are these trucks parked on a a daily basis?

follow them on Facebook or Twitter. they update daily or the night b4 with info

Roaming Buffalo is one. Ate there twice when they were parked at Roswell on occasion.

Lloyd’s is fanastic, I’m not versed in foodie talk but these guys use no-bullshit ingredients and you can taste that. SO GOOD. We host them at Aurora Brew Works (Main St. East Aurora) Saturdays 6-8pm…wash the food down with a beer:) Also, R&R BBQ has been showing up on Fridays 6-8pm, their food has proved to be quite tasty as well.

To find specifically where the trucks are best bet it to follow their FB/Twitter pages.

The Sweet Hearth has excellent breakfast foods, haven’t tried teh desserts though.

Black Market Food Truck is another one…but yeah they tend to have their location posted on all of the social media sites

Here are the local trucks: http://buffaloeats.org/guides/food-trucks/

I would say all of them (mainly from what I read are very good). Keep in mind you’re eating from a truck. So some NYSPeeders may assume that they are getting a top of the line 5 star meal, and then they’re disappointed. I’ve only had a Peanut Butter Pie from Sweet Hearth and I’ve had a few different dogs from Frank Gourmet Hot Dogs. Both were very good.

The Cheesy Chick is no more. She shut it down and was trying to sell the truck the last I saw from her on Twitter.

^^ I just saw that. Looks like the Roaming Buffalo is looking to open another truck too.

Lloyd’s is so good.

I’m surprised that bar bill hasn’t given you shit about it…

They can’t. There’s nothing illegal about what they’re doing (food trucks).

I think they are pretty cool and bring some quality food for generally low prices. one thing i dont quite agree with is when they claim the 1k fee to operate a truck in the city of buffalo is high. thats less than 3 dollars a day to opeate a business with a generally low over head. on the flip side the argument is that in major cities the permit is only like 300 for a year.

Well you think about it in the general daily operation, but how about someone who is trying to open their business and have to dish out an extra $1k just to get their permit with no income yet.

I guess but that could be said if you were trying to open a resturant, imagine trying to furnish a dining room, chairs alone can cost a few k, or how about buying something as simple as plates adds up fast.

It is easier to get a loan for those things, but when you are a food truck, it is such an oddity that most places don’t want anything to do with you. You’re premiums for insurance are much higher for food trucks as well because of the liability involved with it.

They were also saying that price is on par for bigger cities like CHicago, NY, etc. Where food trucks pull a lot more customers.

Mmmmm BMFT is dank! Al makes rolls for those boys

I have only eaten at 3 of them, loyds, Black market and that Pink truck on allen(i was drunk) in my opinion Black market is the best followed by loyds and lastly that abortion of a food truck on allen.

I’ve eaten at Lloyds a couple times since my last post in here. Gotta say, not impressed. I’ve had the Braised beef taco and burrito, the chicken burrito, and the aztec brownie. Incredibly oilly, and the taste overall is just kinda bland. I really think, as cliche as it might be, that they need a ground beef taco.

I have yet to eat at one of these :frowning: I never seem to be near them when they are posted up at one spot. Hopefully this summer I can hit one at a concert event.

How about the brick and mortar businesses that pay rent, utilities, and have much higher permit and overhead cost?

These food trucks basically operate rent free and can make a huge impact on traditonal businesses that they park in front of.

sorry just ranting a bit

They also need a flour tortilla option, i hate corn tortillas.
