Buffalo tint ticket question..

My girl was going to work around 830am and got pulled over by a buffalo cop. She got pulled over for her tinted windows witch are tinted at 75%. So during the morning time you can clearly see right thru them. So i guess he pulled out his nice little machine and put it on the window and said it was 25%. And i know for a fact it is no where even close to that. With that being said a few other things happened…

The cop said she could either A) keep them on pay a $90 ticket or B) take them off and still pay a $30 ticket. I have gotten 2 tickets for window tint and had never been more then 55 bucks and got to keep them on. If she took them off shouldnt the charges be dropped completly and not have to pay anything? or am i missing something that has changed.

The cop also said he could have wrote her a ticket for all of her windows, but only did for her front 2. She has a 2 dr car and as far as i remember the doors cannot be tinted. Am i correct?

Any info or advice will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Pay the ticket, keep the tints, ignore the rest.

Wait, does her car actually have aftermarket tint? 75% is basically factory aka nothing.

There after market tints. i was mistaken they are not 75 but they are no where even close to mine and mine were 20%, so i would say 35%. But as i stated you can clearly see in the vehicle during the day time

any tint on the side windows is technically illegal, unless it came from the factory like that. the rear you can have as dark as you want. happened to me before.

70% permissivity is the legal limit in NYS. Her tint is illegal. Remove the tint or pay the ticket.

Thats what I thought and when he said that to her i was a biy confused and had a feeling he was ful of shit. Thats pretty much what led me to believe he was just trying to shake her up by saying a $90 ticket if you keep them on and a $30 ticket if you take them off. OR he was jsut a BO tard and had no idea what he was talking about.

The legal limit for the rear side windows is also 70% permissivity. The back window is the only one you can have as dark as you want.

Do some research before you start calling cops tards.

Section 375 (12-a) of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law does not allow a windshield or front side windows that are dark. The windshield and front side windows cannot block more than 30% of the light. Seventy percent or more of the light from the outside must pass through the window. This law also applies to the rear window unless the vehicle has outside rear-view mirrors on both sides. The mirrors must give the driver a full and clear view behind the vehicle.

If the vehicle is classified as a station wagon, sedan, hardtop, coupe, hatchback or convertible, the rear side windows must also allow at least seventy percent of light from the outside to pass through the window.

It is illegal to sell, offer for sale, or install glass that does not comply with this law. It is illegal to operate a vehicle with glass that does not comply with this law.

If a medical condition requires a person to have tinted vehicle windows, they can request an exemption from the law.

I see thank you for the info. When i had my tickets about 2 years ago you couldnt have the driver or passenger windows done, so i guess things have changed since then. haha Just from what i heard i was too convinced that he knew what he was talking about so i figured i would get some input

no tint > *

it looks better, and you dont get harassed by the po. I have only seen a select few cars that actually looked better with tint.
