Build your own sportscar

Yeah, everything they have is expensive, but man does it work. This frame will never rust. I guess not driving in the winter or rain will help too

what about those Wet Auto-x events

Well, I plan on driving it then…And I’m sure I’ll get wet at some point, I plan on driving this thing 6 months out of the year.

The only problem with threads like this is they start making me think “wow… that doesn’t look like that bad a job… I wonder if I could do it”.

 Keep the updates coming.

haaaa…I know just messin around

Yeah no kidding. Then I think about the bookshelf that I am trying to build now and reality hits me.

i hear yea…but it does give me an idea on building subframe connectors

It’s really not that hard. It’s definately not for someone who has never picked up a wrench before, bot someone that is mechanically inclined can do it. There is just a lot of research to be done, the hardest part is figuring out what works where? Can I use this? Will this break? Stuff like that. The UK locostbuilders board is an excellent resource. The US one is pretty good, but not nearly the traffic of the UK one. There is a US Yahoo mailing list that is good too.

wow. i totally envy your mechanical inclinations. thumbs fucking up man that is phenominal.

Fiberglass arrived! Now you can almost see the shape…

Welded on the dash and steering column support, cut the threads for my upper ball joints, and test assembled the front suspension…

Front is suspended on it’s own for the first time!

A lot of work to do yet, I may get rid of the upper bushings alltogether and go with rod ends for more adjustability, it would be an easy mod, just cut off the tubes, weld on some bungs, and screw in a couple high misalignment rod ends.

looks awesome, what is the steering rack coming out of?

I don’t know yet, probably a Fiero. Whatever it comes out of it will have to be cut down to eliminate bump steer.

when this is finished will it be street legal?

Yeah

i dub this is the coolest project on the forum

A better question is when is it going up for sale…

lol at the huge shift Knob

I love this thread  Awesome work! Keep us updated, this is extremely cool

I’d need extra balls to drive this thing. kinda scares me! it’s fucking awesome.
